We have pleasure in inviting you to take part in ‘The Jim Clark, Rose and Thistle’, a one day Tour to be held on Saturday 19th August 2017. This Touring Assembly is authorised by the MSA with an Organising Permit/ Certificate of Exemption number 101553 . As many of you will know the Jim Clark museum is looking to raise £300,000 by 2018 to help finance a museum extension to the existing Jim Clark Rooms in Duns. For this year our club will support the fund raising with a contribution from our Rose and Thistle entry fees.

The Saturday event is part of Wigton Motor Club’s Classic Weekend and is followed on Sunday 20th by The Cumbria Classic Show at Dalemain by Ullswater, so why not make a weekend of it?

The Tour will start from Houghton Hall Garden Centre on the A689 one mile east of Junction 44 M6 and is open to members of Wigton Motor Club and all other enthusiasts driving historic, classic and other fine and sporting cars of any age. We start our day with bacon rolls, coffee and documentation in the Restaurant where the route will also be issued. A list of starters and start times will be sent out with final instructions during the week prior. En route we will take in a light lunch at Floors Castle and a visit to the Jim Clark rooms at Duns before returning to the start venue.

The route will be defined by a simple road book with Tulip Diagrams and distances. If you or your passenger are first timers please feel free to call us and ask us for help and instruction on ‘tulips’ and anything else that may not be clear.

The entry fee for Wigton Motor Club members will be £55 per car and for non members £65. Included are bacon rolls and tea/coffee at the start and a light lunch for two crew members. The meal costs for a third or fourth crew member will be £18 per person. A donation of £10 per car will be made to the Jim Clark Trust from the entry fee. Tour self adhesive plates and a commemorative award will be distributed at the start together with a final start list. The finish will be back at Houghton Hall where refreshments will be available at entrants cost.

Please ensure your car insurance covers you for the Touring Assembly which is a non timed, non competitive event run entirely on public roads.
