WELCOME!

We are well into the new school year and I want to reiterate a warm Garden Oaks welcome back to everyone. These first 4 weeks have flown by so remember to make every minute count. Arrive on time each day to school and be at your classroom door at 7:45am when school begins! The school grounds open every day at 7:15am. Children’s House (PK-K) gather in the cafeteria, Grades 1-3 in the Multi-purpose Room and Grades 4-6 on the Spark Park.

We begin our day with morning warm-ups (math, writing and reading) during breakfast service followed by announcements at 7:55am. Punctuality is an important life habit!

Students arriving after 7:45am must stop at the front office to receive a tardy slip to enter class. Repeated tardies may result in revocation of magnet transfer to Garden Oaks. Let’s work together to be sure you are on time every day!

HIPPY – Home Instruction for Parents of PreSchool Youngsters

Ana Duran, is our Home Instructor for the HIPPY Program. If you are a parent of a 3 or 4 year old here at Garden Oaks and would like to participate in classes to support your role in your child’s education, stop by the front office and complete a registration form. You will receive books and materials to use at home!

PTO Stuff the Bus!

Garden Oaks PTO is currently coordinating our annual fundraiser. We ask that you contribute as you are able to support our school efforts instead of going door-to-door! The monies raised will pay for items not otherwise covered by the school budget such as field trips, special events and special projects such as the iPod cart purchased by the PTO last year!

COME TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY!

So far, our daily average is 97.2%We are a percentage point last year at this time. Be sure to get rest, drink water and get plenty of rest to stay healthy. If you are in school Monday – Thursday of each week, you earn the privilege of coming to school in free dress on Fridays!

SAFETY FIRST!

Your child’s safety is our first and foremost concern. Crossing at the corners with the crossing guard is the best way to get across the street and to teach your child the importance of traffic safety. If you are dropping off, pull into the circle drive.

Likewise, when picking up from school, be aware of the crossing areas. Car-pick is ONLY in the circle drive. Students will NOT be sent to the street for pick-up. You may park and walk into the school (this is required for Children’s House) or meet

Remember that the circle drive is a NO CELL PHONE zone!
