At our last meeting: President Brett Waldera began the meeting by talking about the Chapter Challunge. We are the host Chapter again this year, and would really like to make this a very memorable trip for everyone. Find out how we did at the July meeting, as I’m sure we’ll have some terrific stories to tell.

Wednesday Night League has started, and you can find the schedule and results on the next page. If you were unable to make it out so far this year, please try to make it on one of the remaining dates. It really is a great time and a nice way to break up the workweek.

We have not heard back yet from Shingwak Resort, so no decision has been made on what we’ll do with the gift certificate they gave us. We’ll let you know more as the information becomes available.

The Hedrick Peer Opener was a good time for all who participated. A few fish were caught on a variety of lures and we had a great meal at the Shorewood Pub. We’d like to thank all who fished and also the Shorewood Pub for doing such a nice job. We hope to be there again next year.

Brett spoke to Jeff Anderson from the Vikingland Chapter about the tract of land for sale on Lake Miltona. It seems the Minnesota DNR purchased the land with a lot of help from the Vikingland Sportsman’s Club. The Vikingland Sportsman’s Club donated a lot of the funds to make this happen and our Chapter decided to match the donation of the Vikingland Chapter, to the Sportsman’s Club, to help them recoup some of that money.

For years, the Wisconsin DNR has been stocking Muskies of various strains, and now the 1st Wisconsin Chapter of MI wants to try to establish a brood lake with Leech Lake fish. They are looking for funding to get their program started, and have asked us for a donation. We had some discussion on this, with some members feeling that we should not contribute to this cause until the minimum length restriction is raised in Wisconsin. Another member mentioned that the money to fund this project should come from the Perry Smith Fisheries Account. This was Perry Smith’s Chapter, and if they couldn’t get the money from the International to fund this project, then something is wrong. In the end it was decided that we table the matter until a later date.

For the past three years, the Fargo-Moorhead Chapter of Muskies Inc has had a collage done in Muskie magazine of some of our best catches of the year. In the July issue of Muskie, you’ll see last year’s pictures. If you caught a 50+ inch fish this year, your personal best, or even if it’s just a nice looking picture, please send me a photo, or bring one to a meeting. Thanks.

Please make sure to give Shawn a copy of your Fish Entry Form if you submit your fish on-line.

At the next meeting: Our “Summer Roundtable Discussion”. After the general meeting, we’ll talk about the baits and tactics that are working on the area lakes. With any luck, you’ll be able to use this information to put a few more fish in the boat.
