  5. Matters arising: None
  6. Report from EWGA Eastern Region Meeting: Covered under other headings.
  7. EWGA AGM Resolutions: The Delgates’ gave their unanimous support to Anne Archer voting on Suffolk’s behalf at the AGM.
  8. Merger: The date given for the EWGA “Road-Show” on the Agenda of 14th April 2011 will hopefully be changed as it clashes with the Medal Final at Fynn Valley. Information will be passed to Delegates as soon as this becomes available..
  9. 100-Club: The draw was made by the County President and results will appear on the County Website.
  10. Inter-Club County Competitions: There are 2-changes to the entries in the Blue Book. Namely, Mrs. Claudia Long will be the Weston Organizer and Mrs. Cynthia Stewart will organize the Coronation/Centenary Foursomes. Will Clubs’ please advise the Organizer of the Haskell, Cynthia Robinson, when they confirm a date for their match. This could also be published on the County Website. Eligibility for the Haskell & Stearn was also discussed.
  11. Caddies in County Competitions: It is considered that at times Caddies slow play rather than speeding it up but under the rules of golf we are unable to alter any guidelines as to a Caddy’s role. However, it was felt that Captains’, particularly of the Cranworth and Stearn Teams’ could be more proactive in hastening play. The Rules of Golf, Rules 6-7 apply. Suffolk Golf Day: Monday, 22nd August 2011 at Hintlesham Golf Club. 25-Teams can play and Entries will be accepted on a first come first served basis. An Entry Form is available in the County Website.
  12. Eastern Region Seniors’ Competition: Tuesday, 12th July 2011 at Haverhill Golf Club. Additional Entry Forms are available on the EWGA & County Websites. Haverhill was thanked for their very generous gesture in not charging a Green Fee for the day.
  13. Seniors’ Shield: This new Competition will be first played in 2012. Entry Fees will be collected in line with other County Competitions. A copy of the proposed rules was sent to all Club Secretaries for comment. The meeting raised the issue of the age-qualifying date being from 1st January, not the date the match is played – given matches will be played on different dates. This feedback will be passed to the Organizer.
  14. Prize-Money for Club Competitions: Discussed at the Eastern Region Board and Judi Walker has since clarified the rules, which are as follows: A voluntary sweep can be paid in cash but a compulsory sweep cannot and all Clubs are encouraged to give prizes, which are golf related – e.g. through the Professional’s Shop – if applicable. The meeting was also reminded that an “Entry Fee” may be liable for VAT.
  15. AOB:
News: The County Secretary asked for newsworthy items & photos to be sent to Julie Latimer-Jones forpublication on the County Website. Julie’s email addresses are: or - both of which will reach Julie direct.

Cranworth – Neutral Courses: Rookery has already experienced problems as they have to travel to Haverhill to play Diss. The meeting was sympathetic and the County will note. However, this is a 2-year trial. Alternatives to Neutral Courses were discussed and the issue is ongoing.

Australian Spoons & Ping Four-Ball Competitions: Judi Walker reminded all Delegates that these events are organized by EWGA for the Club Golfer and asked Clubs for their maximum support. The Australian Spoons can be played as early as 1st November.

EWGA Survey: Concerns were raised over a recent on-line survey. Judi Walker has resolved this issue by speaking with Chrissie Owens at EWGA. Chrissie assures all Members that the section relating to personal income etc is only used by EWGA, to enable the organization to get to know who their Members are.
County Coronation Medals: All Clubs to forward the result, with a copy of the card, as soon as the Player has a really good round. There is no need to wait until the end of the year before submitting.

Thanks: Marianne Haines was thanked for making all the Meeting arrangements.

Date and Venue of Next Meeting: Venue – T.B.A. – Date provisionally -Friday, 15th April 2011 at 10.30am.
