Reference form forMount Carmel Summer Staff

Thank you for taking the time to provide a reference for the applicant interested in working at Mount Carmel this summer! Please fill out the pages below and email it directly to:

Mount Carmel Ministries is a place of rest, renewal, and recreation for people to experience Jesus. The vision of Mount Carmel Ministries is to transform lives through ‘Jesus Only’. Mount Carmel is unique from most outdoor ministries in that it is solely for families and adults. It was established in 1938 and is located on Lake Carlos in Alexandria, MN.

The underlying requirement for all staff at Mount Carmel is to evidence a living and growing commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord. Our call is to live together in Christian fellowship, to be a worshipping community, to minister to one another and to minister to the guests.

Summer staff spend their mornings and afternoons in a specific ministry area (children/youth programming, meal prep/lodgecleaning, office assistant, maintenance assistant, etc.). At dinner time all help serve and clean up (including dishes!). Most are also involved in leading the evening programming followed by lodge and chapel clean up. Typically, they work a 14-hour day with a hour break somewhere in the middle. Friday afternoons are spent cleaning cabins and Saturday is a day of rest. They stay in very basic cabins with no air-conditioning.

Please know that we take great pride in our commitment to support and encourage the faith and personal development of our summer staff. The intense “live-in” work environment is ideal for some, but not for all. Your objective and honest feedback will help us determine whether Mount Carmel is an appropriate setting for the applicant to grow and flourish. We appreciate your time and energy on behalf of this applicant. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact one of us at the number listed below.
