Description of Your Project

Identification of clear, important question and/or problem - The highest priority will be given to applications that have a clearly specified question or set of questions, the answers to which have the potential to provide insights that will help improve outcomes for youth in the state of Michigan.

1.  Briefly describe the question you would like to answer and/or the problem you would like to solve. (max 250 words)

2.  Explain why this question/problem is important – that is, how will it help improve outcomes for youth in Michigan. (max 100 words)

Existence of administrative data

All projects must have existing administrative data that can be used to help address the specified question or questions. We welcome projects that will require merging/linking data across different units within an organization or across organizations, as long as agency staff can secure permission for such linkages. Assistance in obtaining and linking the data will be provided.

3.  Briefly describe the data that you anticipate will be used to address the question/problem outlined above. Make sure to clearly specify where each of the data elements currently resides – i.e., within your division, in a different division within your agency or in a different agency. (max 250 words)

High-level organizational commitment - Project personnel must demonstrate a high level of commitment and enthusiasm for the project. Commitment from both individual project staff as well as senior decision makers is required. Support from senior decision makers will be particularly important for projects that require access to data across departments or agencies.

4.  Please identify the key stakeholders, including senior leadership within your organization, who you believe will be critical for the success of your project (specify both names, organization and title/position) and describe how you plan to enlist their cooperation. (max 250 words).

Your current level of readiness

Please note that prior experience and expertise are not prerequisites for selection. These questions are simply intended to determine your current capacity and level of need.

5.  Have you and/or the staff in your division ever engaged in a project of this nature? If so, briefly describe. (max 250 words)

6.  What do you see as your greatest needs in carrying out this project? E.g., technical skill in merging data, technical skill in conducting data analysis, help in thinking through the questions to be asked and the most effective ways to answer them? (max 100 words)

Building on your future success

7.  If the project is successful, how do you think it will benefit your organization or other organizations doing similar work? (max 100 words)

Letters of support

Applicants are encouraged to submit letters of support for their project application from their senior leadership and leaders of partner organizations that indicate their backing for and willingness to cooperate in helping to achieve the projects objectives.

8.  If available, please attach letters of support.
