A RESOLUTION honoring the Paducah Tilghman High School marching band for their performance at the 2014 Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl.
WHEREAS, the Paducah Tilghman High School Marching Band has a proud history of excellence. Beginning in 1928 under the direction of Jack Dameron, the band has had 12 successful directors and has maintained one of the strongest traditions in this Commonwealth. This season, under Director Patrick Saddler, the band advanced to the state semifinals and placed 13th in the AAA band competition; and
WHEREAS, the Paducah Tilghman High School marching band continued its tradition of excellence by recently competing in Jacksonville, Florida, against seven other bands from around the country in the Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl Parade and Field Show Competition and during the pregame show and at halftime of the historic Gator Bowl football game, the sixth-oldest bowl game in college football and one of the premiere sporting events in this country; and
WHEREAS, the Paducah Tilghman High School marching band swept the Class AA Parade and Field Show Competition, earning 13 trophies, three plaques, and $10,000. For its dominance in all areas of the competition, the band was named Sweepstakes Grand Champion, and earned a right to perform the pregame show at the 2014 Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl. The band also performed with seven other bands at halftime of the game, which featured the University of Nebraska taking on the University of Georgia. Among the trophies the band took home were Class AA Outstanding Marching, Outstanding General Effect, Outstanding Auxiliary, Outstanding Percussion, Outstanding Music, and Outstanding Drum Major; and
WHEREAS, the Paducah Tilghman High School marching band featured 35 exceptional team members on its recent trip to Jacksonville, and this honorable body rightfully acknowledges each of them today: Stephanie Barnette, Nicholas Beeny, Sabrina Behrens, James Bilak, Malayisia Bridgett, Mykia Mchaney, Jahlina Bryant, Diamond Pearl, Alexis Chandler, Bianca Chandler, Christopher Chumbler, Brittany Carruthers, Tyanne Donald, Thailandria Daniels, Regan Davidson, Blake Denson, George Dobson, Chantelle Donelson, Heather Redd, Lauren Travis, Miriah Donelson, Duong Miranda, Kaitlyn Edwards, Latyran Fitzgerald, Teriah Flournoy, Ronechia Garrett, David Goulooze, Aleja Grant, D'Brante Green, Autum Hamilton, Micheal Hassel, Anitra Hill, Montana Holifield, Dylan Howard, and Briana Jackson; and
WHEREAS, this honorable body commends the Paducah Tilghman High School marching band, the families and support systems of its members, and every student who performed at the 2014 Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl. The level of talent and hard work of this band and those who direct them is rightfully commended, and this body hereby wishes the "Band of Blue" the best of luck in all their future endeavors;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
âSection 1. The members of the House of Representatives honor the Paducah Tilghman High School Marching band for their performance at the 2014 Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl, congratulates Director Patrick Saddler and Assistant Director Lindsey Williams, and applauds every band member on this profound accomplishment.
âSection 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the Paducah Tilghman High School marching band.
âSection 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Paducah Tilghman High School, 2400 Washington Street, Paducah, Kentucky 42003.
