Our Vision:
A world in which impairments do not affect the quality of life of an individual.
Volunteers will be placed at partner sites in the Caribbean and Mexico* for two to four week rotations. Volunteers are responsible for their own expenses, tax deductible to the extent they are volunteer related.

The New Jersey Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is the state medical society representing specialists in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). They are called physiatrists (fizz ee at' trists). Physiatrists focus on restoring function. They care for patients with acute and chronic pain from musculoskeletal problems such as back and neck pain, headaches, tendinitis, pinched nerves and fibromyalgia. They also treat people who have experienced catastrophic events resulting in paraplegia, quadriplegia, amputation, or traumatic brain injury; as well as those who suffer from orthopedic conditions such as arthritis, sciatica and herniated discs, and neurologic disorders such as strokes, multiple sclerosis, polio, cerebral palsy, and ALS.
Because physiatrists offer a holisitic non-surgical approach to pain and injury, these physicians are the ideal choice for the treatment of a wide variety of diseases and conditions. The mission of the NJ Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is to:
· Provide patients with a network of highly qualified Physiatrists to chose from
· Provide patients with holistic non-surgical options for their condition
· Provide continuing education to member Physiatrists to maintain excellence
· Political advocacy to allow Physiatrists to practice Medicine in the interest of patients
· Provide a supportive network among Physiatrists who continually support the practice of Medicine with integrity
