Week of June 1 - 5

Homework:

The word wall words for this week are: began, second, laugh, break, sure.

* These will be introduced at the beginning of the week and we will continue to review and do activities with them throughout the week. Please practice them at home each night. Please use the Tic-Tac-Toe activities if you find them helpful.

Remember you can “Challenge yourself” if you want to.

Monday, 6/1- Please read P225 and complete P227.

*If you have a homework pass and you want to use it, tonight or tomorrow is your chance.

Tuesday, 6/2- Please complete P229.

*If you have a homework pass and you want to use it, tonight is your chance.

Wednesday, 6/3- Please write a persuasive letter or email to convince me not to give you homework for the rest of the school year! Remember to use complete sentences and give me at least 3 good reasons. After you are done writing your letter, remember to edit it to check that you have complete sentences that start with a capital letter and end with punctuation. Also, remember how to start and end a letter (greeting and closing). You can use the lined paper you brought home today, type and print it from a computer, or if you want to email your letter to me just send it to . This letter is due Friday, June 5th, so take your time and do your best!

Thursday, 6/4- Continue to work on your letter.

Overview of the Week:

In Language Arts, we will continue to read in our reading groups and read stories together as a whole class. Good readers read EVERYDAY!!! Please keep reading daily over the summer vacation. Good Writer’s write stories, letters, lists, poems, and more…even during summer vacation.

In math we will finish Chapter 12 on Friday June 12th, review on Monday June 15th, and take the Chapter 12 written assessment on Tuesday, June 16th.

We have many fun events to look forward to as the end of the school year approaches: first grade mystery readers, choosing our own seat, the first grade end of year party, and more!
