At CSM as the Director of the Division of Liberal Arts and International Studiesfrom 2009-2014, responsible for a $2.5M annual budget, including an enhanced endowment and new national grants. Hired eleven new talented full-time faculty using shared-governance practices for 26 full-time faculty, 20 adjunct faculty, four post-docs, and five visiting scholars to serve 3,000 students, including the only University Honors Program. Established an endowed chair. External reviewer for CU Boulder international affairs program.On leave in 2014-15, served as Vice Dean for Research in the School of Humanities & Social Sciences at a strategic partner for 80 faculty with new national grants, new hiring, and new research clusters. Created a new MA in Economics and a new China Studies Center. Chaired the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Managed two curricula on Asia Pacific politics and security using shared-governance practices with 24 faculty. As a scholar-practitioner, briefed US and foreign congressional delegations, generals, ambassadors, heads of state and officials as well as taught at a post-graduate level. Simultaneously, a University of Hawaii Research Associate lecturing at the East-West Center, and teaching graduate courses on Islam in Asia.

As an endowed chair in Johns Hopkins University's SAIS Center for Chinese and American Studies in Nanjing China, conducted research in Asia and taught graduate classes in US-China Relations, International Law, International Relations and Comparative Politics. Directed the faculty forum and led student publications.

As tenured faculty, taught graduate and undergraduate classes in International Law, Asian Politics, National Security, International Relations and Non-Western Politics. A Burkett White MillerCenter for Public Affairs library collection was donated in my honor. Co-directed the Arts & Sciences faculty program to China and served as the Global Studies advisor.

As a visiting assistant professor, taught a graduate course on Chinese Foreign Policy. As a Research Associate for the UVA Asian Studies Committee for many years, guest lectured, organized an international conference, and researched. As a Research Associate at the Miller Center for Public Affairs, conducted research as well as edited books and articles for publication.

Taught international politics, directed the Doshisha College exchange program, and was the co-editor of VA Asian Studies Journal. MBC has long provided premier education for women, including one of the country's first programs for adult learners and the only early college entrance program in the country specifically for gifted young women.
