Introduction/Welcome
10 minutes /
  • Welcome Tech Leaders to the Second Quarter Meeting
  • Re-introduce Classroom Support Staff
  • Discuss stipend information and requirements for Quarter 2

Quarter 1 Conversation
10 minutes /
  • Open forum for Quarter 1 topics
  • Discuss what we did during Quarter 1 and have people share their experiences with scheduling
  • Participants should share what went well, what they struggled with, how we can help support them throughout the rest of the year
  • Ask for suggestions and discuss any problems they might have had

Using Outlook for Scheduling
10 minutes /
  • Introduce Outlook and explain it is a really good way to keep a collaborative calendar and get teachers using their email.
  • Demonstrate how to use Outlook to set-up a collaborative calendar and have teachers sign up for spots
  • Discuss the pro’s and con’s of this and point them to the video tutorial in CitySchoolsIT on YouTube.

Using the TSS Course/Collaborize
15 minutes /
  • Mention that there were some issues with how people uploaded and submitted assignments and walk everyone through the steps on how to submit them correctly
  • Mention that we will be using the gradebook and achievement features on TSS this quarter to keep everyone updated and make it easier to track progress
  • Answer any questions they have about using the TSS site
  • Discuss the Collaborize website and go through to see if anyone had any questions that were not answered that we can answer now

Introduction to Online Assessments
5 minutes /
  • Discuss the different ways we can give an online assessment
  • Discuss why practicing online assessments is important (PARCC, etc.)

Online Assessment Demo
10 minutes /
  • We will link out to PARCC Sample questions from TSS and have the TL’s choose which assessment questions they want to answer
  • They will understand that this test is more rigorous and complicated than assessments in the past

DataLink
20 minutes /
  • Demo how to build custom assessments aligned to Common Core
  • Demo how students log into DataLink
  • Show how to give online assessments
  • Discuss scheduling, logistics of giving online assessments, etc.

DataLink Activity
20 minutes /
  • TL’s will build their own assessments in DataLink. If they do not teach classes, they can just practice creating the assessments so they know how to go through and do the training for their own staff

5 minute break
Plickers
10 minutes /
  • We will demonstrate Plickers by using the tool to ask the TL’s what tools they use for assessment and the pro’s and con’s for each of those tools

Smart/Promethean Tools
10 minutes /
  • We will discuss the Smart Response and Activote systems and show the TL’s where training resources exist
  • Mention that in the training plan they create, they can include these types of tools as well.
  • Demonstrate how these tools are used and discuss example scenarios

Review Quarter 2 Assignments
15 minutes /
  • All participants will create a professional development plan, implement the plan and ensure that at least three teachers at the school follow through on the plan. Then, participants will reflect on the process in TSS and comment on other people’s journals. They can follow these four steps for one of two different areas:
  • Creating and Administering Online Assessments using Datalink
  • Using a Set of Response devices in the classroom
