Description of the course

It is a hands-on experience course that alerts the would-be managers to their potential as global managers and invites them to acquire the necessary skills in order to efficiently carry out their roles in their organizations. The emphasis is on actual learning and gaining confidence.

Course objectives

Specifically, this course sets the following objectives.

* To help the students to make the transition from being students to becoming global managers by understanding the implications of being a part of a business venture

* To create an awareness of the skills they will need to carry out daily their roles and introduce them to some ways of acquiring them

* To know how to create the best first impressions, how to deal with others to achieve the common goals through cooperation, how to create win-win situation at work place throughpersuasive communication, how to handle business correspondence, and how to conduct oneself courteously and gracefully as a global manager.

* Ultimately, to build up their confidence level and instill in them the spirit of competitiveness that leads to achieving excellence in their work as well as in their lives.

Course learning outcomes

At the end of this course, it is expected that the students will be able to confidently present themselves, make their contribution in an assertive manner, and thus achieve their goals in every situation.

Reading materials

To help the students to have an easy access to some of the important authors and their works onbusiness communication, two Books of Readings will be given them. They are for their personal use. They are expected to be familiar with them.

Group research project and viva

In order to encourage the students to delve deeper into a topic and discover for themselvespersonal insights into one or others component of managerial communication, they will be expected to carry out a study on the topic given them by lot. A viva will be held in ensure that all the members of the group have put in their share of work. The Group research reports are due at the end of the term.
