per acre. For better results, direct the spray towards the base of the plants.
Sugarcane / Grand Growth / Lodging / ● If cane plants lodged with the rainfall occurred in last week, it is advised to make straight of
the fallen plants and provide support at their base through earthling up. To prevent lodging,
prop up the crop using trash twist method.
Cotton / Flowering / Parawilt & Leaf spot / ● Heavy rainfall followed by bright sunny days can result in parawilt incidence. To control it
farmers are advised to spray the cobalt chloride (10 mg per litre of water) only on affected
plants within 24 hours of symptoms appearance.
● To control leaf spots or blight, spray the crop with Blitox 500 g + Agrimycin 20 g or
Streptocycline 3 g/acre at an interval of 15 to 20 days starting just after shower of rain.
Sunflower / Cabbage semi-looper, tobacco caterpillar and Bihar hairy caterpillars / ·  Apply irrigations as per requirement to sunflower crop. The sunflower crop should not be under stress at flowering, soft dough and hard dough stages.
·  Control Cabbage semi-looper, tobacco caterpillar and Bihar hairy caterpillars by spraying 200 ml Nuvan 85 SL in 100 litres of water per acre. If necessary, repeat the spray after two weeks. These insecticides will also control jassid and other sucking pests.
Poultry / General / Stem rot / ·  Light plays an important role in egg production. Provide 14-16 hours of total light to layers, including the day light. Gradually go on increasing the light when egg production starts.
·  Provide extra grit in the hoppers to avoid production of thin shelled eggs.
·  Stir the litter regularly to avoid dampness. At the same time, sufficient air movement should be made possible inside the poultry shed.

·  Protect the sheds from rodents as they eat feed meant for poultry. The ration should contain 15-20 % more protein, minerals and vitamins.
Vegetable / General / Potato
·  The climatic conditions are ideal for sowing early varieties. Take out seed potato from the cold storage in the first fortnight of this month and spread in ventilated place under diffused sunlight in thin layers.

Root Crops
Start sowing “desi” varieties of radish (Punjab Pasand), turnip (L-1) and carrot (Punjab
Black Beauty, Punjab Carrot Red and PC 34), using 4-5 kg seed rate of radish and carrot
and 2-3 kg seed rate of turnip per acre. Keep ridges 45 cm and plants 7.5 cm apart.
Cultivation of root crops on ridges help in better growth and development of roots and
easy harvest.
Horticulture / Transplanting / ·  As dry weather prevailed during past week and light rain forecast at isolated places during next 3-4 days, irrigation may be given to the fruit plants, if needed. The pathological and physiological fruit drop in citrus can be checked by spraying Ziram 27 SC (1250 ml)+ 2,4-D sodium salt of Horticultural grade (5g) or Bavistin 50 WP (500 g) +2,4-D(5g) in 500 litres of water/acre in mid August.Spray of Ziram 27 SC (1250 ml) + Ethion 50 EC (1000 ml) in 500 litres of water in August will help in controlling sooty mould of citrus.
