Budget & Gary is in Mexico for the Race Walk Championships. According to the President the Association lost
Finance: approximately $2,000 at the brunch
Membership: 1274 individuals, 45 clubs & organizations
President’s We need to continue doing what we have been doing, as our membership is going up
Remarks:
Old business: 1. Kevin Arloff from Northport Running Club has been working on the Facebook page
2. Harry Penny update – doing better, moving around more; still no use of hands for fine motor skills
3. Association accreditation report – in full compliance
4. Background Screening – all board members should be checked
New business: 1. Team USA Coaching Education – President gave link to newsletter with information on sports
2. 2016 Marketing Kit - $500 – association will purchase (1) tablecloth; (2) banners; (4) flagging
Committee Reports:
Track & Field (Rich) – Summer dates 6/29, 7/6,7/13, 7/20, 7/27. They would like to hold coaching clinics on Sundays during the Spring
LDR (Alex) – Kings Park 15K will be the 1st LDR Championships – entries for the Marci Mazzola race will be raffled off
Distance Development (Fred) – Practice at Farmingdale State as of March 8th
Race Walk (Mary Ann) – Working on putting together 20K to help Katie Mitcha get a qualifying time for the Olympic Trials
MUT (Carl) – 246 finishers in the 25K Championships & 88 in the 50K non-championships; no course record; 1 male runner broke the Latvia 50K record of 3:10 in 3:02; 1 female broke the National Masters 50K record in 3:22; Skechers was a sponsor and top 5 male and female runners received gift certificates. Results will be online on Tuesday
Masters (Rob) – At Masters Indoor Nationals Vicki Fox, Kathy Martin, Mary Cordero, Joe Cordero, Gary
Muhrke and Roxanne Brocknor won medals. All records for the Indoor season will be updated.
Youth Athletics (Sheryl) – Received permits for the Spring Opener @ Mepham on April 17th and the Association Championships @ Great Neck on June 17th
Officials – reminder to officials to fill out headings on the results sheets; all set for Sunday’s meet.
Para-Athletics (Fred) – have to re-think the committee and its purposes; suggestion – a low key race to start the
process
Officials (George) – will send out feelers to officials about the Spring meets.
Outreach – Youth Chair will send email to Long Beach track program to confirm date of 3/19
Coaching Education – Long Island is now considered a Legacy School. This year there is a school in
Morristown, NJ 5 weeks earlier that LI School
Newsletter – Committee Chairs need to start putting stuff together for the April newsletter
