1PROJECT BACKGROUND
1.1Preamble:
The Government of Madhya Pradesh has launched the Integrated Urban Sanitation Programme (IUSP) in the state. The programme has been designed in consonance with the National Urban Sanitation Policy 2008 of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. The goal of the programme is to achieve totally sanitized, healthy and livable cities and towns. In order to achieve the goal, the state is supporting the cities to develop city sanitation plans and emphasizing that the cities become open defecation free. In the first phase the programme is being piloted in 30 cities, where construction of about 10000 toilets has been targeted.
Successful pilot initiatives have shown that the low cost individual toilets are not only appropriate for the economically weaker sections of the society, but they also have an advantage in terms of easy and quick installations in addition to providing privacy to the users and protecting dignity of women.
1.2Proposed Project
Individual low cost household toilets/group toilets are proposed to be constructed in the town with the objective to make the town - “Open Defecation Free”.The proposed contract is for Construction of Low Cost individual Toilets at [Name of Town]]. The details* are as follows:

2.2.1Standard Specifications
The “Standard Specifications (Civil Works)” issued by the Nagar palika parishad Hoshangabadset out the specifications that shall be followed for construction of General Works under the programme. Specifications for additional specialized items of civil works, and/or for mechanical and electrical works, shall be as set out in this Section.
3SCOPE OF WORK
Constructions of low Cost Individual House hold Toilets in the identified slums.
4BOQ as per the annexure “A”(I, II and III) are enclosed for the following type of toilet model for reference by the agency.

(iii) a registered letter from the Agency stating that no Completion Certificate has been issued but the Employer is making use of the Works; or
(b) the ____ day of _____, 2010.
Consequently, any demand for payment under this guarantee must be received by us at this office on or before that date.
