¡Bienvenidos

a la clase de español dela Señora Cisco!

My office is room 406.

My office telephone is 721-2400 ext. 3446.

Es nuestra intención hablar español en toda ocasión. Sólo hoy se presentan algunos puntos en inglés para que los padres puedan leer.

Every course has a required text assigned. For this course, it is Así se dice, 3 textbook and workbook. The text can stay at home but the workbook must be in class every day.

Other necessary materials are a: 3 subject spiral notebook (only for Spanish!), a Spanish-English dictionary and a 1” soft cover binder or pocket folder for your handouts

Grades:

1. Final Grades: Each marking period is 20 % of the final grade and the final exam counts for the remaining 20%.

2. Marking Period Grades:

a. oral class participation (the continuous use of Spanish: pronunciation, intonation, grammar and the quality of participation)

b. homework assignments

c. written examinations & quizzes

d. oral presentations

e. written work such as compositions and essays

General Rules:

1. Homework: Oral and/or written assignments are given every night. In order to receive credit these must be completed for the due date. If two or more homeworks are notcompleted in a marking period, it will negatively affect the quarter grade. Students should bring their books home every night so in case of absences, they can call a friend forthe assignment. An absence is not an excuse for a missed homework!

2. Tests: Tests are announced at least two days in advance. If a student misses a test, he /she must take it on the day he /she returns to class, provided it is a legal absence. (A legal absence is one for which a parent has called or sent a note.) If a student cuts a test a zero is given for that test. If a student has been absent for several days prior to an exam, he /she should see the teacher upon returning (even if he/she doesn't have class that day) and special arrangements will be made. It is the responsibility of the student to schedule a makeup exam. If too much time passes a zero will be assigned.

3. Punctuality: Students are expected to be seated in the classroom by the time the second bell rings. Tardiness disrupts both the teacher and the students. After the third illegal tardy, all illegal tardies are considered cuts and detentions will be assigned.

4. Illegal absences: Cutting class affects grades and parents are notified immediately.

5. Class preparation: Students must come to class with proper materials (homework, books, notes, pens, etc.) No one will be permitted to leave class once the bell has rung. Failure to come to class with proper materials will affect the student's grade.

No gum or eating in class!

6. Leaving the class: Permission must be requested in Spanish to leave the class to go to the bathroom or the water fountain. It will be more favorably looked upon if this request is made between activities and does not interrupt the lesson. Infrequent requests are more likely to receive an affirmative response.

7. If you send me an email and your name is not readily understood from your e-address, you MUST write your NAME in the SUBJECT line.
