Beckycalled the meeting to order at 2:03 pm.

Robin made a motion to accept the November 10th minutes, Ansina seconded the motion and it passed.

The First order of Business was the Christmas Party on December 21st.

  • Volunteers need to report to the SUB at 9:00 a.m. on 12/21/11. The more the merrier!
  • CSI is not soliciting donations this year due to the economy. Thank you notes are being sent out to past and present vendors in order to recognize their generosity, but it is not expected that they donate this year.
  • Canned food and left over catering food is being donated to charity. These charities will be picking up these items after the party.
  • President Beck will not be attending the Christmas Party due to a prior obligation (Capital for a Day – Blaine County).
  • Deb Stewart is making centerpiece decorations out of books being withdrawn from CSI’s collection. They are SO cool.
  • Tamara Harmon is organizing the entertainment.
  • Décor was discussed/finalized. It will be simple this year.
  • By 12:45 p.m. winners of prizes will be written on a board at the Christmas Party. Drawings will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Building Happenings:

  • Abby Greenfield – Head Start/Early Head Start – December 16th is the last day of classes. The staff will be in December 28-29. Classes start up again on January 3rd, 2012. They are finishing up a $5 million grant.
  • Kelle Johnson – OOA – Dr. Brown from BSU presented at their Alzheimer’s Conference. He spoke about the importance of Alzheimer’s Awareness. 26,000 Idahoans have been diagnosed with the disease. It is hitting the Baby Boomer generation pretty hard. There is some promise in a recent clinical trial related to treatment of the disease.
  • Brandi Turnipseed – Planning & Grants Development – New Dept of Labor grant is in final review. It should be ready by 1/16/2012.
  • Tara Nunnelley – Taylor Matrix–It is the end of the semester and winding down in the Taylor Matrix.
  • Robin Bagent – Aspen – Lots of hair pulling over in the Aspen building! (Mostly students.) Finals week, Christmas prep, etc. Tom Hamilton is retiring.
  • Rae Jean Larson – HSHS – The Rose Parade float in honor of Lacey Hade is on display in the HSHS building. It will honor Lacey’s life and legacy and promote organ donation awareness. The Dental Assistance Auction is coming up.
  • Carly Oppie – STAR Boise – This time of year is extremely busy for the program as they prepare for the 2012 Training Season. Carly was recently promoted to Office Manager after Carey Acker accepted a job at BSU after 8 years with the program. The STARoffice will be posting a new Communications Manager position after the first of the year. In 2011 the program trained 2,548 students, which brings the number of total STAR students trained to over 28,000 since 1996. The 2011 Instructor Appreciation Banquet went off very well on December 3rd in Boise. It was very well-attended and well received. They had two guest speakers, Chris Johnson from the Washington State Motorcycle Safety Program and Brittany Morrow, founder of Rock the Gear ( – her story is amazing and worth checking out!).
  • Ansina Durham – Herrett Center & Library
  • Herrett Center: There is a sale going on in the gift shop (20% off on most items) and Santa Snork is playing in the Planetarium.People can find the show times online.
  • Library: Steve Poppino is the doing meditation workshops.Watch for Teri’s e-mails with the dates and times. Deb Stuart did the majority of the repurposed book decorations in the library. Everyone is welcome to walk through the library and enjoy all the different repurposed book creations.Tina Standlee attended a book repurposing workshop at the library and has used what she learned to decorate the business office hallway with beautiful snowflakes.Check out both the library and the business office!!!
  • Kat – ADC – ABE classes are doing luncheons in honor of their culture. The center is hosting a childcare center family again this year.
  • Dawn Wendland – Evergreen – They are sold out of poinsettias! They will have cider next week. There was recently a trip to the Chobani Yogurt Plant in New York. The plant is building in the Twin Falls area in the near future.
  • Merry Olson – Career/Counseling Center – Students are seeking resume help as they get closer to graduating. Heidi Campbell is a new employee. The PTE Completers Report was done & on time (early even!) thanks to Merry’s efforts.
  • Becky Ross – Blaine County – Construction should be complete by the end of February. A grant for study lounge furniture has been approved. 14 Hailey/Ketchum students were awarded scholarships.
  • Lauri Watkins – Desert/Canyon–(Via email) There is not much to report. Everyone is busy with finals, grading and looking forward to the break. The Woodworking/Cabinet Making Auction was very successful.
