Job Purpose
Symatrix hasa broad range of external clients, covering the entire suite of Oracle HRMS products, including core HR (Cloud and E-Business), Payroll, Self Service, Learning Management, Discoverer and iRecruitment.
The role of the Symatrix Environment, Release and Deployment Manager has responsibility for non-production and production environments over multiple Oracle Cloud HCM platforms but predominantly with a key, named client. The key objective being to have environments available for delivery projects at the times they need them. Liaison with technical teams internal and external to provide the environments, with the right versions/release of the software and right test data is crucial to achieving success. The role complements the Symatrix team which maintains a high level of service to meets each client’s Service Level Agreement.
The successful candidate must be a proactive and diligent coordinatorwith a good understanding of application/infrastructure platforms preferably gained from Cloud/SaaS operations.
Main duties and responsibilities
•Manage and own the environment plan to meet the demands of the delivery projects
•Ownership of the process for tracking releases, upgrades and changes to the development and test environments working with the Test team and Build teams (internal and external)
•Ensure there is optimum and efficient use of available environments (reuse or decommission of environment when testing is complete)
•Contribute to and deliver on the non-production environments improvement strategy ensuring we evolve towards having dynamic, self-service environments that support the fast pace of delivery and innovation
•Own the environments configuration strategy and it's data
•Ensure monitoring of environments is conducted
•Ensure correct patching is applied to the environments
•Engage and support project delivery teams
•Document environments and underlying components to appropriate standards including integration points
•Maintain, refresh and recycle environments, including access control and deployment of software builds for testing (bespoke software and 3rd party software)
•Support continuous improvement initiatives (keep abreast of industry trends, implement best practice, evaluate new tools and techniques, automate processes, and upgrade underlying technologies) Provide reactive support for the Oracle HRMS applications suite by telephone and email
Person specification – Knowledge / Experience / Skills / Qualities
Essential:
  • Proven experience of Change and Release Management preferably on an Oracle platform
  • Strong timemanagement and planning skills
  • Strong Oracle HR implementation experience and/or Oracle HR support experience
  • Commitment to delivering the highest standards of customer care / outcome satisfaction
  • Proven ability to build and manage client / customer relationships
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels of our clients business and internally within Symatrix
  • Experience working with at least one of the following HRMS modules in addition to core HRMS: Payroll, OLM, iRecruitment, Advanced Benefits, Compensation Workbench, Self Service, Discoverer
  • Exposure to the Oracle AIM methodology and documentation standards.*Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to chair meetings involving multiple organisations
  • Experience of dealing with onsite and offshore teams
  • Experience of managing Cloud environments
  • Relevant experience and a proven track record in an application support role including supporting applications in cloud environments and familiar with ITIL concepts and best practices.
  • An ability to investigate, analyse and resolve application issues. The candidate must be comfortable working alongside 2nd Line Infrastructure teams and 3rd party vendors as part of the day to day Service Support activities. The Candidate must have strong analytical and investigation skills with an ability to resolve issues in a high-pressure & time critical environment
  • The ability to very quickly assimilate and understand the scope and objectives of a project’s release and environment requirements; understand and work within/around both project/business environments in which a particular project is operating and must be credible to Project Managers, Business Managers and colleagues.
Desirable:
  • Experience managing the testing lifecycle. A self-starter with the ability to work under own initiative when required, showing evidence of analytical ability and attention to detail. Having an understanding of all the stages of systems development, from specification to implementation would be an advantage in this role.
