General description

A compact digital handheld recorder, media and DAISY player, which has voice navigation, tactile buttons, an LCD screen and audible feedback to assist you through the folders and menus. The Olympus DM5 is ideal for meetings, conferences, educational studies as well as for downloading music, podcasts, online lectures and audio and DAISY books.

The recording capacity of the Olympus DM5 with its 8GB built in memory supports over 2,000 hours of recording, and allows plenty of storage for your favourite music. It also supports DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) and speciality software that converts textbooks into speech. With the new Visual Index feature and 2.2" full colour LCD screen, the DM-5 takes recording to a whole new level.

Enables high quality recording, with no additional software required. Records in MP3, PCM and WMA formats; plays back in MP3, PCM, WMA and Audible file formats.

·  This recorder can tag recorded files or files transferred from a personal computer with keywords to manage a file database.

·  It is possible to search for files by file, date or keyword.

·  It features a scheduling function.

·  The settings and functions of this recorder can be controlled using speech recognition.

·  By connecting a digital camera, you can import and view images.

·  This recorder can import text data and read it aloud.

·  Supports the linear PCM format, which is capable of recording sound quality equivalent to or surpassing CD-level. Capable of realistically recording various different sound sources. High resolution recording at a high sampling frequency equivalent or superior to that of a music CD (Sampling frequency 44.1 kHz, Bit count 16bit) is possible.

·  Supports a wide range of recording formats. Can handle the MP3 format (MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3), and the Windows Media Audio (WMA) format.

·  This device can save files in a highly compressed manner, thereby allowing for extended recording times. In addition, when connected to an external device, the recorder can encode incoming analogue audio signals without a PC.

·  Supports high capacity recording media. Besides the 8GB built-in memory, you can also record onto a commercially available microSD card.

·  You can playback WAV, WMA, and MP3 format files transferred from a computer in addition to files recorded by the device itself. You can enjoy music at any time.

·  It has a built-in Variable Control Voice Actuator (VCVA) function.

·  The Low Cut Filter minimizes air conditioner noise and other similar noises while recording.

·  The recording level can be adjusted automatically or manually.

·  A Noise Cancel function and a Voice Filter function cut noise and enable clear audio playback.

·  For WMA-format recording, you can select one of six recording modes such as stereo or monaural.

·  Has built in recording scene setting and playback scene setting functions to register the recording or playback sound quality or mode according to different usages.

·  You can move or copy files between the built-in memory and microSD card, and within the folders in the memory.
