MISSION STATEMENT:
Windham High School is a community of learners. We offer a safe, welcoming environment built on a foundation of pride, trust, honesty, and respect. We believe that physical, mental, and social well-being are building blocks for personal and academic success. Our commitment to quality education emphasizes individualized learning experiences, challenging academics, and varied opportunities for creative thinking and healthful risk-taking. Exposure to the arts, to careers, and to areas of personal interest invites meaningful planning for the future. Our fundamental goal is to foster a passion for lifelong learning. SCHOOL/COMMUNITY:
Windham High School is a public high school accredited by the NEASC. The total school population for the RSU#14 Windham Raymond School Department is approximately 3,141. Windham High School has approximately 961 students in grades 9 through 12 and serves students from Windham and Raymond.
Located in the Sebago Lake Region, 12 miles from Portland, Windham is a town experiencing growth due to both residential & commercial development. The community and students represent a diversified socio-economic structure. (37% of the district qualify for free or reduced lunch)
ACADEMIC PROGRAM:
Every student is required to earn a minimum of 22 credits to receive a Windham High School diploma, including 4 English, 3.5 Social Studies, 4 Mathematics , 3 Science, 1 Physical Education, 1 Health, 1 Fine Arts, demonstrate Computer Proficiency and complete 40 hours of Community Service. Vocational/Technical Education is available in conjunction with the Westbrook Regional Vocational Center or the Portland Arts and Technology High School. Students are able to access courses at area colleges and through Virtual High School.
HONORS AND ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSES:
Honors mathematics courses are available in Algebra II, Geometry, Functions/Statistics/& Trigonometry (FST), and Pre-Calculus. Other Honors classes are offered in English, World History, Latin II, III, IV, Spanish II, III, IV & V, French III, IV & V, U.S. History, Sr. Personal Finance, Biology and Chemistry. Advanced Placement courses are available for English III AP, English IV AP, US History AP, European History AP, AP Economics, AP Psychology, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Biology II AP, Chemistry II AP, AP Physics I, Physics II AP, AP Environmental Science and AP Studio Art. If a student has received a grade of 85 or better in an honors or AP course, the course is weighted. Honors grades are weighted at 1.1 and AP courses are weighted at 1.2.

COURSE PHASES Course Phase indicates the degree of difficulty a student should expect to encounter in the class.
ST. - Standard The standard level is designed to improve basic skills for students who are currently working below grade level. A strong emphasis on literacy across the curriculum and direct skill instruction will comprise the course structure.
AC. - Academic The Academic level is college preparatory instruction for students who are working near or at grade level and have an interest in pursuing some form of post-secondary study. Students will be expected to work independently outside of class.
H - Honors The Honors level courses are for students who are reading above grade level and who have moved beyond acquisition of basic skills and would benefit from a rigorous and highly independent course of study. Students will be recommended by their teachers for these advanced and faster-paced courses.
A.P. - Advanced Placement - 119 Students (mixed grade levels) took 212 exams in 2017. 49% of exams earned a 3 or higher.
GRADING SYSTEM: A = 93 – 100 B = 85 – 92 C = 77 – 84 D = 70 – 76 F = 69 and below
P = pass (70 or above) W+ = Withdraw Pass W- = Withdraw Fail
CLASS RANK: Beginning with the Class of 2013, class rank will no longer be reported.
