POSITION:6-8 Special Education Teacher
LOCATION:Middle School
DESCRIPTION:Full Time position, teaching Special Education
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid special education endorsement and a valid Washington State teaching certificate.
- Washington State Patrol Background check and FBI Fingerprint Check.
EXAMPLES OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Plan, develop, write and implement individual education program as required by federal and state laws.
- Monitor student progress toward achieving objectives and goals on IEP and complete quarterly progress reports on each student.
- Collaborate as a team with lead teacher(s), parents and other personnel including outside agencies as necessary.
- Provideinstruction to individuals and small groups.
- Work with administrative staff and other faculty members to ensure the implementation of an educational program.
- Maintain the confidential and complete file for special education students.
- Supervise assigned staff/volunteers/tutors.
- Initiate and conduct individual parent meetings for students receiving IEP services.
- Advise teacher(s) about means of differentiating instruction when working with special needs children in their classrooms.
- Knowledge of the Washington State Assessment and accommodations for special education students including student portfolios and LDAs.
- Design and utilize effective teaching and behavior management strategies to implement a behavioral intervention plan.
- Knowledge of educational testing and of methods of remedial education
- Working knowledge of instructing students with all disabilities (LD, Multi-handicap, Autism, etc.)
- Strength in computer technology; including knowledge of educational software.
- Knowledge of current assessments, both state and district.
- Knowledge of Common Core State Standards.
- Complete annual Post School Surveys
- Have knowledge of basic achievement testing and results (WJIII, BASC, etc.)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary is determined by the AEA salary schedule.
