HSEO Logo Design Competition

Health, Safety & Environment Office

Eligibility

  1. The competition is open to all PolyU staff *, students (both full-time and part-time) and alumni.
  2. The number of entries is not restricted. All submitted entries will not be returned.

Entry Requirements

  1. Entries must be consistent with the vision and mission of Health, Safety & Environment Office (HSEO). Please visit for details.
  2. The composition elements of the entry should include “H”, “S”, “E”, “O” and/or name of “Health, Safety & Environment Office”.
  3. Each entry must be submitted with a brief description, with not more than 200 words in either English or Chinese, to illustrate the design concept.
  4. All entries must be presented in vector PDF/JPEG format with at least 300 dpi output resolution. Both colour and black/white versions must be included on the same page.
  5. Entries of scanned or photographed hand-drawn works will not be accepted.
  6. Entries must be original and free from infringement of any existing intellectual property rights.

Prizes

  1. The prizes will be:
  1. Champion (1 winner): a certificate plus a cash prize worth HK$3,000
  2. Merits (up to 3 winners): a certificate plus a cash prize worth HK$1,000
  1. Winning logomay be applicable for use of different publicity tools of HSEO, including HSEO website, printing and other communication materials where appropriate for activities organized by HSEO.

Judging Panel

  1. Entries will be assessed by a judging panel chaired by the Chairman of Health and Safety Committee.
  2. The composition of the judging panel may change without prior notice.

Judging Criteria

  1. Entries will be assessed according to the following elements:
  1. Creativity and originality
  2. Aesthetic quality
  3. Design concept
  4. Applicability
  5. Versatility

Announcement and Presentation of Awards

  1. Winners will be informed individually by early November 2016.
  2. Those that do not receive such notification shall consider their entries unsuccessful.
  3. The judging panel may decide not to make any award.
  4. The judging panel members shall be chosen by HSEO and shall have the final decision on the results of the competition.

Submission

  1. The softcopy of entry logo (not exceed 10MB) along with the entry form must be submitted to HSEO by email () on or before 14 October 2016 (Friday).
  2. Please mark “HSEO Logo Design Competition” on the subject. Late submission will not be considered.

  4. Hard-copy prints and editable digital files of the shortlisted entries will be requested at a later date.

Copyright

  1. Entries should be the original work of one person and must not have been used on other occasion or have won a prize in any other competitions.
  2. It is the sole responsibility of each participant to ensure that entries do not infringe copyright, privacy rights, regulations, orders or directions of any third party. The participants shall bear full legal and related responsibilities arising from any possible breach of intellectual property rights in respect of their entries, and shall indemnify HSEO and other concerned parties against any claims and liabilities arising from any such breach.
  3. HSEO will own the copyright to the winning entries.
  4. HSEO acquires the right to publish, exhibit and publicize the winning entries, including, but not limited to, such mediums as the internet, printed or electronic marketing materials, etc.

Use of Personal Information

  1. Any information supplied by the participants for the purpose of the Competition will be treated as confidential, and will not be released by HSEO and any third parties without the participant's permission. Personal information of participants will only be used for communications regarding the submission and selection and otherwise to the extent necessary for administrative matters for the selection.

Compliance

  1. Any participant who does not abide by the terms and conditions as set out in this competition document may result in disqualification from the competition. Any such disqualification shall be at the absolute discretion of HSEO. The decision of HSEO shall be final.

Disclaimers

  1. HSEO may at its discretion cancel, modify or suspend the competition. Participants shall not be entitled to any compensation as a consequence to such cancellation, modification or suspension of the competition.
