June meeting minutes are online and emailed to the board: We have 279 members at current, last year we had 273.

Alicia has had many compliments on Lacey, and the job she is doing as Queen this year.

Jill discussed on quality of finals belt buckles, and trouble with the company and mistakes on buckles made. Some people had chosen not to use the saddle company we ordered certs from and are working with Alicia to get these other companies paid.

Raffle ticket sales are going well this year.

Shawn and Mike will be getting together to fine tune what the budget was last year for this years finals.

Motion to accept Brett at SW Director made by Brad, Alicia 2nd. No Discussion, no other nominations. Unanimous Vote, Brett is new SW director.

Rule Proposal by Sharon Munn:

Cowgirls barrel racing only.

$5.00 hat fine to be assessed to any barrel racer who loses there hat during a competition run at MRA first approved rodeos. Contestant must pay the rodeo secretary that day or next MRA first Rodeo. All hat fine monies collected will go towards the current years CBR saddle fund.

Mike made discussion about the fact there is a “fine” that funds the event. It seems to be more of a fundraiser not a fine. If it is a fine it should go into the general account. Mike feels this should come back re- written. Mike made motion to vote down this rule, Jeremy 2nd this.

Vote: Unanimous vote down. This rule will not be put into rule book

Rule Proposals by Jojo Varner:

Finals rule proposals

If an event does not have any qualified rides/times at the finals- the money will be carried over to the remaining round. However- points made on the money from that round will not be distributed. If there are no rides/times for the finals the money will follow the Payout section, rule #4.

Finals Qualification:

Multi-event contestants may draw out of one event and continue to compete in another if the contestant has a valid doctors release that states why the contestant is unable to compete/able to compete in these events.

Discussion to clarify this is to ensure if someone Doctors out at the finals and is entered in 2 events, but feels they can compete in one event and not the other, the Doctors note would need to specify which event you can stay in and doctor out of the other.

Drawing out of finals without a valid doctors release- the contestant can draw out of the finals (no refund) and can be replaced by another contestant in the standings that has sent in a pre-entry form. If another person in the standings is unable to compete- a contestant that is already entered in the finals, but not in that event, may compete and pay the entry fee for that event.

Thank You’s for past finals (Jill)

In the past Heidi has done thank you’s to all sponsors in form of a photo and letter. It was discussed that it is the responsibility of the director to get the thank yous to the sponsors. Suggestion by Jill if they want a picture al braunworth has photos to choose from on website and cost of thank you. MRA has paid for thank yous in the past and could again. Directors should contact Jill if they need help with thank you’s.

Conf. Call with Sanford Center 7-16-2013. (Mike, Jojo, Shawn, Jill)

Mike provided info on the original contract the Sanford Center wanted us to sign which was not a contract we favored and how he handled this. Now the Sanford Center is on board with the 15,000 payout as last year with a few details to figure out such as who gets free passes, and where the sponsorship boundaries lye, as well as tickets for our sponsors. With this deal we will be trying to assist the SC in selling tickets, and the MRA getting a cut of the tickets we sell prior to the event. Also a mention of pre- sale tickets at a discounted rate. Shawn and Mike will be meeting with them at Bemidji Rodeo to work out the fine details. The date the SC is proposing is May 16th – 17th. Another thing we will need to discuss is them opening the concessions earlier to sell to the contestants and staff who are there early. The SC does not want us to bring in beverage and food. Other general discussion on parking, and hiring a musician to try and sell combination tickets to fill the place. These are all suggestions we can bring to them to help.

Other possible Venues: We did seek other bids and had not received any for 2013 finals.

Emmett made motion to go forward with this proposal and Shawn and Mike will iron out the details discussed for the contract. Vote by all directors and all vote to go through with this plan.
