Meeting opened at 8pm

Peter Merritt, President, welcomed all in attendance.

The meeting was suspended to receive an address by Commodore Peter Stephens, Royal Geelong Yacht Club, regarding Skandia Race Week.

The Minutes of the Special General Assembly Meeting held on 5 June, 2003 were confirmed.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Peter Merritt

As tabled in the Annual Report. P. Merritt also advised that Yachting Victoria would be adopting a new logo in line with the national branding and Yachting Australia’s Logo. The logo was displayed.

TREASURER’S REPORT – Rob Milner.

Report as tabled in the Annual Report was further spoken to by Treasurer, Rob Milner.

Proposed that the Treasurer’s Report be accepted.

GENERAL BUSINESS

1.  Alan Saunders, Commodore of Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron, reported on the America’s Cup Challenge, from RMYS, requesting support from Victorian members. John Burgess responded on behalf of the members wishing the club all the best in their campaign.

2.  Rod Johnson (Westernport Association of Yacht Clubs) reported that the Association had resolved that they would now be known as Yachting Westernport.

3.  Keeping Cancer at Bay – Diana Liptrot (YV Executive Manager) advised that the main KCAB fundraising event would be held on 28 February, 2004, following the Range Series race to be held on that day. All other Victorian clubs were encouraged to conduct their own Charity Day, either on 28 February or a day of their choosing, and recommended the support of Challenge. Further information will be sent to all clubs.

RESULT OF THE BALLOT FOR EXECUTIVE MEMBERS

Members elected were David Gotze, Neil Beddoe and Peter Merritt.

Peter Merritt was declared President and John Burgess Vice President for 2003-2004.

Andrew Warner and Ken Simpson were thanked for their interest in standing for the Executive.
