7th Grade Spanish Project!
Hola Chicos,
The end of the year is nearing and we will be starting a project together in class and you will be completing/presenting for the 4th marking period. Parts of the project will be due at different times throughout the 4th marking period and then the final project will be due the week of MAY 9th!!! We will start the project in school and have project days to work on it during class but you will also have to work on it at home! The guidelines are as follows:
We will be creating an international newspaper, but we will write the articles in ENGLISH. There will be groups of 2 and each group will pick one Spanish speaking country and one newspaper section topic. Each group member will investigate a current event that is happening in their country and that follows their topic; for example if your country is Spain and you choose entertainment, you will research entertainment news that is happening in Spain.
We will be typing the articles in English using your own words to tell the current event. Be sure to check grammar and punctuation before the final project is due!! When typing the final project, you may use any font and font size that you would like and I encourage you to BE CREATIVE!! Below is the schedule of due dates for each part of the project:
WEEK OF APRIL 11TH- Each group will research articles in the NY times and learn how the newspaper works and get an idea of how each section is written. By the end of class, you will need to find 4 (FOUR) current events that you can choose from and you will pick ONE to write about. Due next week, teacher will check that you have 4 articles to choose from.
WEEK OF APRIL 18th- rough draft of the article hand written and checked by the teacher by the end of the class and the article title in ENGLISH**
WEEK OF MAY 9TH- Articles typed and completed and ready to be put into the newspaper!
** Your article MUST have a catchy, exciting title that will make readers want to read your article! You will write the title in English and the teacher will help you to translate the title into Spanish.
Please sign and return one copy with your student! If you or your student has any questions regarding the project, please ask me no later than the week of April 25th. If I do not hear from you, I will know that the project is understood and will be completed for the above dates. Please understand, that if your student does NOT submit a project they will receive a grade of a 60 for the first week it is late and a double zero (project and presentation) the week after, this will SEVERELY hurt their 4th marking period grades. Thanking you in advance!
