Title: / Proposed Questionnaire to collect information on courses on standardization currently offered worldwide – Action 1306-04.

The action plan of the TSB Director’s Ad hoc Group on Standards Education was summarised based on agreements reached at the 2nd meeting that took place in Kyoto, 25 April 2013 Plan (AHG-SE-014). This Action plan requested, as Reference Number 1306-04, to collect information on courses on standardization currently offered worldwide.

Prof. Mitsuji Matsumoto, the group leader for this issue, presents the draft working methods of the group in order to promote the action plan.

This document proposes a questionnaire to collect information on courses on standardization currently offered worldwide.

For future work, in principle, we would like to exchange our view by correspondence.

When the AHG-SE meets, we will participate and report our activities, if necessary.

1. Introduction

We live surrounded by standards, their presence is becoming increasingly important in the complex diversification of today’s society.

Taking this into account, in some countries Academia have already incorporated their own curricula on a variety of international standards. However, the details are not clear. In ITU, since a few years ago, in view of the importance of standardization education, enactment of the membership system of academia, by holding international conference such as Kaleidoscope, which addresses the challenges of standardization education.

Therefore, in order to carry out education on standardization in ITU, and to understand the status of the standardization education being given around the world, to have a basic standard of education in the future, ITU wants to produce a questionnaire survey as follows in point 2.

In particular, the contents of standardized education program that is currently being carried out, and “the subject name” etc. are required.
