WATBike - Guided leisure bike rides for June 2015

Wed 3rd June / Blyth / 1730 / Nice evening ride out west from Blyth, through Heighleygate and quiet back roads, to finish at Longhorsley. Bus back at 8pm.
Sun 7th June / Cobalt / 0900 / Transport out to Consett then riding a great circular down to Corbridge for a cuppa, then canny climb back via Slaley and Blanchland, around 40+ miles with some chunky hills (up and down!).
Wed 10th June / Cobalt / 1730 / Angel of the North. Nice ride out across the Tyne up the route 11, great view of the Angel and a cheeky half before bus brings us back at 8pm
14-15th June / Cobalt / 0800 / 2 day ride in Borders. Still a few places left. Contact Colin for more details.
Sun 14th June / Blyth / 0900 / Riding south we will head via Newcastle and eventually finish for a cuppa in Durham City, with bus back about 2pm. 45+ miles.
Wed 17th June / Quorum / 1730 / Wagonways, airport, and the Victory pub in South Gosforth, steady 20 mile ride.
Sun 21st / Cobalt / 0900 / Leaving Cobalt and riding out via the nice back roads of Northumberland, passing Harwood Forest and Winter’s Gibbet, finishing at the cycle friendly cafe at Elsdon. Bus back at 2pm.
Wed 24th / Cobalt / 1730 / One of our favourites – easy run to Newcastle, cross the Tyne then all the way to the Boathouse (loads of real ales!) at Wylam for a drink, bus back at 8pm. About 25 miles.
Sun 28th / Cobalt and Blyth / 1000 / WATBike ride and lunchtime get together! Two easy guided rides from Blyth and Cobalt to end in a beer garden – chance to catch up with other WATBikers over a beer then cycle home. You could also meet us at the venue. More details to follow.
Wed 1st July / Ashington
Blyth / 1730 / Hirst Middle school summer fayre
An easy ride down the coast through wagonways of North Tyneside and back via Cramlington and Delaval with a little drink on way back. 20 miles.
Sun 5th July / Cobalt / 0900 / Circular ride via Newcastle and Gateshead, Angel cycleway, past Nissan, Cox Green , the Herrington’s, cuppa in Sunderland, and back via the ferry, 45+ miles.

Meeting points:

  1. Blyth will be from the large car park by Coastline Chippy restaurant at South Beach.
  2. North Tyneside will be Car Park opposite Village Hotel
  3. Killingworth will be by Shire Horse pub near Morrisons
  1. No children under the age of 12
  2. Only “standard” bikes, no recumbent bikes, tandems or 3 wheelers on these rides. We may be able to do rides with these types of bike by request, just call us.
  3. Cost is normally £15 per head,(£10 for June unless otherwise stated),which includes pick up from the designated point, transport by minibus from there and return, this includes a place on the trailer for your bike. Payment can be made on the day of the ride.
  4. A minimum of 8 riders are required to make each ride viable, if less than 8 we maintain the right to cancel and you will be offered a place on another ride.
  5. If you want any particular type/length of ride, or maybe wish to take in a certain event or location, then let us know and we can design something to suit you.
  6. These are leisure rides to be enjoyed; we want you to be able to appreciate some of the fabulous parts of the North East that you probably wouldn’t see from a car window. Fun, fresh air and gentle exercise! Each ride will have experienced guides to help you along, and in all cases there will be shortcuts should anyone find they are really struggling.
  7. We suggest bringing a water bottle, and some snacks to keep your energy levels up, and we always try and end where we can get drinks/snacks. Wearing of cycle helmets is advisory.
  8. All cyclists ride at their own risk, the Highway Code should be adhered to at all times.You are responsible for your own safety and should be aware at all times of other users of the roads and tracks.
