TOPIC / KEY POINTS / ACTION ITEMS (PERSON)
November minutes were approved
Combined SIG / We welcome everyone to the first call of the combined SIGs
Introduction of new members / Maggie Debon, Dale Burwen, Nicole Wright, Giselle Corbie-Smith
Date for the calls / Due to technical issues with a cap of 30 people on a call, we will have to look into possibly going back to 2 SIGs if this cannot be resolved / Steve and Sally will keep everyone updated as we talk to the coordinating center about the phone line
RFA update /
  1. We had 7 proposals submitted
  2. Some of the topics evolved from our SIG’s

Aging SIG Update /
  1. We have several paper proposals going to the P&P or are being organized to be submitted soon
  2. There has been a discussion on a sleep study at a feasibility stage
  3. Beth Dugan visited WFSM and a group of us met on the driving study. This is moving along
  4. Tina Savla and Karen Roberto came to WFSM and met with us and discussed a feasibility study on functional loss. This seems to interface with the Driving study. The two will possibly merge
  5. Christina Bell is trying to draft objectives for late life planning
  6. Todd Manini’s functional status subgroup is meeting on a regular basis. They currently have 3 paper proposals

Structure of the combined Aging and Psychosocial SIG /
  1. There is overlap between the 2 SIG’s . We want to possibly come up with a schedule. The call would run from 4-5:30. Possibly begin the call with specific issues with Aging, move to topics that overlap and the last part of the call be specifically on Psychosocial topics. This way everyone doesn’t have to stay on the entire call unless they want to
/
  1. Feedback indicated that most people liked the idea of this new structure

Update on Steering Committee Meeting /
  1. The meeting is in DC in May
  1. We encourage everyone to attend if they can
  2. We encourage folks to submit posters
  3. If you are actively involved in the meeting, we will try to defray costs; we are looking at available funds
  4. We are looking for volunteers to review poster submissions
/
  1. The deadline to submit posters is 2/15/12
  1. Anyone interested in being on the review panel for posters, let Sally know
  • Leslie Tinker, Suzanne Danhauer, Ramon Luis, Hilary Tindle, Leslie Vaughan, Bev Snively and Milagros Rosal are interested
  • Anyone else interested, email Sally or Sonya
