STRATFORD HIGH SCHOOL BOARD OF TRUSTEES ELECTION

FOR Student Representative 2016 - 2017

Candidates were asked to write outlining why they wish to be elected as BoT Student Representative.

I, Tamera Matene think I’d be fit to take over the role of BoT student representative. If chosen I’ll make sure us, as students would have a say and I’d make sure these would be listened to and considered. I'm sure all of us have thoughts and idea, whether they’re big or small, we’d like to share but were too nervous or intimidated to share them. I’d make sure to listen to your ideas thoroughly and make sure they’re heard.

I want to be a BoT student representative that you all feel comfortable around especially when sharing your thoughts and ideas to. I believe that your thoughts and ideas are extremely important, especially when the majority of the school is made up of us, students of Stratford High. I have ideas too that I think will be beneficial for Te Kura Turarua o Whakaahurangi and believe that by voting for me, I’ll be able to help improve the school for all of us.

Storm Savage

Good afternoon everyone, my name is Storm Savage, and I wish to be elected as Board of Trustees student representative because I think I can make your voices heard.

I cannot stand here and promise that I can get you a uniform change, I cannot promise that more than three pieces of sushi will be sold in the canteen. I cannot promise the heaters will ALWAYS be on, on cold days, or that they won't be too hot either. But I can promise that I can take your opinions to the Board and work as hard as possible to get you not only what you want, but what you need.

I can bring my determination and keep trying attitude to the table, as the Board of Trustees representative, not only would I listen to the voices of those who feel their opinions aren’t heard, but I’d also raise these voices and turn them into actions.

Jackson Taylor

I wish to be BoT representative because I love this school and I really want to make a difference in the school. Being BoT rep in 2017 would be a huge help for a leadership position in 2018. I love being a leader as leadership is one of my strengths and I would be a great voice for the students.

I get along well with both adults and kids, and I feel I have great judgement for thinks like making decisions about the future of our school, like facilities and the education we receive. I would feel beyond proud to have this role and will do everything in my power to do the school and the board well.
