Home Screen
/- Roadside View –The Roadside View interface provides all required Hours of Service information in a clean, easy to read view modeled after a paper log form for us by law enforcement during commercial vehicle inspection.
- Update Duty Status – This is a quick way to update the operator’s duty status from within the ZLogs application.
- Trailer & Load Details – The operator can associate a trailer number and load information to their log; this tab allows the entry of that information.
- Driving Exemption – Based on anoperator’s ruleset, a driving exemption may be available. The operator can apply the exemption by tapping on this tab.
- Unidentified Driving –When an operator is not logged in and proceeds to drive an unidentified driving event will be logged and shown within this menu.
- Certify Logs – If anoperator has logs to certify, this tab allows themto review and confirm those logs. The total number of logs requiring certificationis displayed.
- Logged In Operators – If only one operator is logged in, his logs are displayed. If more than one operator is logged in, this toggle allows the display of each of those operators’ logs.
- Verify Edits – Edits made by the operator’s dispatcher require verification; this tab allows the operatorto verify those edits. The total number of log-edits requiring verification is displayed.
- Run Self Check – The tablet runs a series of checks to ensure all the necessary data is available.
- Logs Toggle – Allows the operator to adjust the number of days displayed in the log;i.e., either today or the entire current duty period configured by the operator’s dispatcher.
- Ruleset Toggle – If anoperator operates under more than one, this toggle will be visible. The current ruleset being used is displayed; tapping on the ruleset will open a pop-up, allowing the additional ruleset(s) to be selected.
- Grid/List Toggle – Anoperator’s logs can be displayed in the traditional Grid View or in a list view, which will display each entry, and the details in an itemized list.
- Log View – Based on the Grid/List Toggle, the operator’s logs will be displayed and may require scrolling to view all of the entries or days.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I view my available hours?A: Your available hours are available in a number of locations. When driving, you can see remaining available hours on the ZLogs tile located on the tablet home screen. Within Navigation, the remaining hours are on the right side of the screen. Within the ZLogs application, both the hours used and the remaining hours are displayed above the grid.
Q: How do I sign off on my logs and when do I need to do so?
A: The tablet refers to signing off on logs as Certifyingyour logs. Based on your company’s requirements, this time frame may vary. The tablet will display a Thumbs Up icon on the home screen and will prompt you, when necessary, to confirm the logs when entering the ZLogs application when necessary. Follow the on screen prompts to confirm the logs.
Q: What is Personal Conveyance and how do I log it?
A:Personal conveyance is used to log driving that is considered Personal Use such as driving to a grocery store, a restaurant, or other non-work related destinations. Because all asset movements must be logged, this can be used and doesn’t does not count towards total drive time. This will be displayed in the Off-duty line as blue. / Q: What happens if Law Enforcement wants to view my logs?
A: Open the ZLogs application and set it to the seven or eight day view. Hand the tablet to the officer. If the officer requests your logs sent via email or fax, call your dispatcher and give them the instructions provided by the officer. It is also possible to send your dispatcher a message with the tablet.
Q: Will I know if I am attempting to drive with no available hours?
A: Yes. The tablet will both display a warning and play a sound when you are almost out of time and also once you have exhausted your available time.
Q: What happens if I drive while not logged in to the tablet?
A: If you forget to log in to the tablet prior to driving, you will need to alert your dispatcher so that theymay can correct your logs.
NOTE: If you fail to log in to the tablet prior to driving, you may be in Violation.
Q: What happens if I undock the tablet while driving?
A: The tablet will continue to log your time as Driving until you re-dock the tablet and stop driving. You may also manually change your duty status while undocked.
NOTE: To ensure you are not in Violation, make sure the tablet is docked when starting and stopping the asset.
Update Duty Status
/ To update your Duty Statustap the Update Duty Status button from within the ZLogs application, from within or the Navigation application; , or tap the Duty Status button below the tile on the tablet home screen.After the duty status is selected, tap the Save button to make the change.
If the tablet is unable to obtain the Odometer Reading or the Current Locationfrom the asset’s GPS unit, you will be required to enter it manually.
NOTE: The tablet will automatically change Duty Status when motion starts or stops based on pre-defined thresholds. If an automatic change occurs and it is incorrect, you will need to contact your dispatcher and request the change. It is not possible to make an edit that affects a “Drive” status.
Log Details
/ From the ZLogs home screen, in List View, tap the log entry to expand its details.From withinGrid view, tap and hold the duty status, this will open the log entry details in the list view.NOTE: To edit entry details, tap the Pencil icon on the right.
Edit Log
/ Editing a log entry requires three pieces of information:; Duty Status, Start Time, and an Annotation. To make a change to any of these three, tap the Down Arrow at the right.It is recommended that you enter in an Annotation so the dispatcher knows why you are making the change.
Before a change will take affect effect and be displayed in the log, your dispatcher must approve and make the change. Once the change is made, you will need to verify that the change was made correctly before it is displayed in your log.
