District Contest

LakeHigh School
On Friday,March 9, Lyrics, Treblemakers, Symphonic Choir and Bel Canto will participate in State Contest at Lake High School. This is a great opportunity for our ensembles to learn quality literature and present the pieces to three judges for constructive criticism and a rating. We will have a long evening on Friday and you will be encouraged to listen to other choirs perform. However, you must remember that at all times you represent PerryHigh School and the Perry Vocal Music Department! Your behavior during the bus ride and while at Lake should reflect the high standards of excellence for which Perry is known. Do not do anything that would jeopardize our ability to perform or disqualify us from this event!
Our four choirs will be assigned homerooms—113-114. Symphonic Choir should be in room 113, Bel Canto and Lyrics in 114. You may leave personal items there—but know that they will not be secure. The room will not be locked, so plan accordingly. Do not bring excessive amounts of money or other valuables!
Please leave the homerooms as you found them! We are guests of LakeHigh School and should treat the building as such. Do not move desks, use smartboards or computers, sit at the teacher’s desk, write on the whiteboards, or move anything in the room! Our rating sheets will not be released to us until the homerooms are checked out by their volunteers and if there’s a problem we will be disqualified! NO FOOD OR DRINK IS ALLOWED IN HOMEROOMS! IT MUST STAY IN THE CAFETERIA/COMMONS!!!!
Any inappropriate behavior or damage to any building will be dealt with by the OMEA Competitions Committee and the administration at LakeHigh School.
You are responsible for being at the right place at the right time! Please wear a watch or pay close attention to the clocks. DO NOT BE LATE! We are on a tight performance schedule!
You may bring your mp3 player and cell phone on the bus, but there will be no cell phone usage upon arrival at Lake. This means you turn it off! It’s not enough to simply silence it. Do not let me see you use a phone while we are there—you can go a few hours without it!
There is absolutely no photography or videography allowed—choirs will be disqualified and cameras or phones will be confiscated! Please let your parents know, too!!
