Major continental destinations include Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Stavanger.

Typical fares

Fares vary considerably depending on when you travel and how far in advance you book. For example EasyJet flights between London Luton and Aberdeenand flyby from Birmingham can be as low as £60 return but rise if you book closer to your date of departure. The airport is located at Dyce, about 7 miles from the centre of Aberdeen. Taxis from the airport to the University cost around £15.00. Airport buses link to the city centre (220, 737, 20). The 220 and 737 stop at the top of St Machar drive – a 5 minute walk to the campus. Single fare ranges from £1.80-£2.00.

Travel by Car

The main traffic routes into Aberdeen are the A90 from the South and the A96 from the North. The A90 is entirely dual carriageway south of Aberdeen; the A96 has stretches of dual carriageway. Like many major cities, Aberdeen is becoming congested with traffic and the rush hour is best avoided if possible. Parking at the University is tight during term time. Visitors can get a permit before arriving by contacting the department they will be visiting.

Access from the south
As you approach Aberdeen on the A90, follow the signs to the A92 (Fraserburgh and Peterhead). This leads round the ring road (Anderson Drive). Exit from the ring road at a roundabout onto Cairncry Road and continue to follow the A92 signs through two further roundabouts onto St Machar Drive. After a third roundabout, the road bisects Old Aberdeen and local signs will direct you to the main Old Aberdeen campus.

Access from the north
As you approach Aberdeen on the A96 (from Dyce and Inverness) or on the A92 (from Peterhead), follow the road signs to Old Aberdeen.
