The United Nations Mission in South Sudan is seeking qualified candidates for the following post(s):

Title: NURSE / Grade: GL -5 / Region:Kuajok.

This post is located in Kuajok. Please note that anyone selected will be required to report for duty in that location on the agreed date AND will also be expected to arrange his/her the own accommodation. There is no UN provided accommodation. If the selected candidate is unable to report to the identified Duty Station the contract will be considered void.

Duties and responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Head Nurse and direct supervision of UNMISS Medical Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties below:

  • Organize the clinic and ensure that medical equipments and all medical and disability forms are available at medical check up desk.
  • Observe patients requiring treatment and inform the Medical Officer accordingly.
  • Give medication/injection as directed by the medical officer.
  • Provide information on health precautions, immunization, reproductive health.
  • Assist the medical officer in providing adequate care when necessary, taking vital signs, temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, and act as effective liaison between patient and doctor.
  • Document case findings.
  • Follow up results of referral cases and document hospital management.
  • Help in HIV/AIDS awareness and briefing activities.
  • Develop and maintaining an efficient inventory and stock control of medical supplies.
  • Check drug expiration dates, report drug consumption rate.
  • Undertake other activities related to the health programme as directed by the Medical Officer.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma.Registered Professional Nurse with at least a Diploma from a recognized School of Nursing. Special training in emergency medicine and certificates in ECG and CPR or Basic Life Support is an asset.

Experience: At least five (5) years of responsible experience in the application of nursing skills.Experience with other organizations is an added asset.

Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of other languages spoken in SouthSudan and/or other UN languages is an advantage.
