Olympic Energy Systems, Inc. – Port Townsend, WA

Olympic Energy Systems, Inc. serves as system architectand project manager in the development of renewable energy systems – solar, wind, hydro, and energy efficiency. The company founded and manages the Olympic Energy Network, which connects prospective system owners with professional contractors for installation. Jonathan A. Clemens, an electrical engineer and former board member and vice president of the Texas Solar Energy Society, founded the company in April 2001. Its founder was the North Olympic Peninsula’s first National Solar Tour coordinator in 2002. The company co-organized the annual Olympic Energy Expo in 2001 through 2003. A company client incorporated the first solar electric grid-tied system in ClallamCounty in 2003. To date, the company has installed the equivalent of over 300,000 watts of photovoltaic electric power.

Hanson Electric & Networks– Port Townsend, WA

Chris Hanson has been an electrician for almost 30 years. He installed solar PV panels on the Alaska Oil Pipeline. He experienced the bulk of his electrical career in the Port Townsend area. Some of his company’s recent electrical work includes a new office building on Sheridan Street and the aviation museum at the JeffersonCountyAirport. Chris has a long standing interest in solar energy and manages a team of fine electricians, supporting installations and system development for Olympic Energy Systems, Inc.

Greenspace Landscape & Design LTD – Port Townsend, WA

Greenspace is a licensed General Contractor with a cadre of skilled artisans, including carpentry - helpful in constructing renewable energy systems. The company (and owner Dominick Smith) designs environmentally sound landscapes and systems, including ponds and irrigation systems. Their work in constructing the civil works of hydro-power systems and installing solar electric (PV) and thermal systems is highly regarded, as quality and respect for the earth are among their professional principles.

Alternative Technologies Construction (Alt-Tech) – Port Angeles, WA

Alt-Tech is a progressive and energy efficiency-minded construction company founded by Noel Van Giesen. Noel is a long-time adopter of Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) technology, eventually founding a SIP manufacturing company, Structures To Go, in 2005. Alt-Tech has provided invaluable advice, counsel, and construction services to Olympic Energy Systems. Alt-Tech organized and presented the Olympic Energy Expo in 2001 through 2003, initiating the beginning of steadily increasing interest in energy on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Sunrise Heating – Port Townsend, WA

Don Campbell is not only a good heating (and plumbing) expert, he is a good citizen. He came through for the Quimper Grange recently when their hall (at the end of Sheridan Street in Port Townsend) encountered a failed electric hot water tank and a hall rental needed hot water…Don worked late and with short notice to get the job done. His apprentices are diligent and competent. This company is seeking ongoing training in solar hot water systems, which will be invaluable experience for clients of Olympic Energy Systems.

Air-Flo Heating – Sequim, WA

A major heating professional on the North Olympic Peninsula, especially in heat pumps, Air-Flo also develops and installs solar hot water systems, which can be eligible to receive a rebate from the Clallam County PUD. Air-Flo recently installed several demonstration solar hot water systems, from which the PUD will be gathering performance data for future planning and programs.

H2O Plumbing Contractors – Sequim, WA

Around the area for almost 20 years, H2O installs radiant floor heating systems, hot water systems, and other plumbing, and is supporting the development of solar thermal systems in conjunction with Olympic Energy Systems.

Jarmuth Electric Inc. – Sequim, WA

Serving the Peninsula Since 1956. They were around when ads in magazines featured futuristic photovoltaic panels…they are here now in the current transition to the mainstreaming of solar electric systems.

Power Trip Energy Corp - Port Townsend, WA

Well-known for their enthusiasm about solar energy, they have a focus on the installation of grid-tied solar PV systems. The Olympic Energy Network looks forward to ongoing collaboration on projects to enhance the energy independence of our region, with an emphasis on respecting the public domain and the need for policies based on public interests, with corporations playing a subordinate role.

Alpha Builders Corporation – Port Angeles, WA

The fine builders and remodel experts at Alpha are strong advocates for solar energy technologies. They are supporting the development of solar hot water systems, consistent with their expertise in remodeling and refinishing bath rooms and kitchens.

Other contractorsand consultants involved in projects managed by Olympic Energy Systems include Black Point Electrical, Bud Smith Excavating, Laurence Dimino,and a host of independent contractors. All Electrical Contractors are encouraged to take up solar energy systems as a product line and service to their clients. Olympic Energy Systems assists the contractors in providing systems definition, design, component selection, utility coordination, and project management.

Licensed Professional Engineers (both Electrical and Civil) are also part of the Olympic Energy Network, supporting commercial and institutional solar energy projects and hydro-electric system development.
