rice funded by Rockefeller Foundation (US $ 28,684)
2. Tagging genes for leaf folder resistance in rice
funded by DBT –GOI (Rs. 150 lakhs for 4 sub projects)
3. Synthesis and characterization of AVP gene from B.
spectabilis to develop virus resistant crop plants funded
by NATP-ICAR Scheme (20 lakhs)
Outstanding contributions : 1. Identified molecular markers linked to insect
resistance gene/s in rice.
2. Purified and characterized an anti-plant viral
protein from Bougainvillea spectabilis and its N-
terminal sequence determined.
3. The corresponding antiviral protein gene has also
been isolated which will be useful for developing
transgenic virus resistant crop plants.
4. Constructed cDNA libraries in cotton and peanut.
A cDNA clone encoding Acyl CoA-binding
protein was identified in cotton library.
5. Developed a new method for Patulin (Mycotoxin)
identification in food stuff.
