Thank God for
Dirty Dishes
Author Unknown
Thank God for dirty dishes;
They have a tale to tell.
While others may go hungry,
We’re eating very well.
With home, health and happiness,
I shouldn’t want to fuss;
By the stack of evidence,
God’s been very good to us!
I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down. II Kings 21:13

ACTS 27:39-41
When it was day, they did not recognize the land; but they observed a bay with a beach, onto which they planned to run the ship if possible. And they let go the anchors and left them in the sea, meanwhile loosing the rudder ropes; and they hoisted the mainsail to the wind and made for shore. But striking a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the prow stuck fast and remained immovable, but the stern was being broken up by the violence of the waves.

Christian Character
Christian character is developed by allowing the Holy Spirit to work in our lives through the study of God's Word. We study the Bible to learn about the kind of character God desires in His people. Self-discipline is a key ingredient to being obedient to God, defeating sin in our lives, and putting on Christ-like qualities.
"No one can win a race with intermittent effort. Christ-likeness cannot be reached with that kind of effort either ~ it is an ongoing pursuit. So Paul says, "Let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained" (Phil. 3:16). The Greek verb translated "keep living" refers to walking in line. Just as a runner must stay in his lane and keep up the same effort until he reaches the finish, you must stay in line spiritually and keep moving forward toward
the goal of Christ-likeness."
~ John MacArthur
Keep Your Eyes on the REAL Goal!
by Dave Rogers
This is an exciting time of year, especially if you’re a child! Amid the holiday season, rushing about in search of “Christmas gift inspiration,” we are struggling to recover from too much Thanksgiving turkey. By the time we actually reach the New Year, we may be truly sick of food, football, family and friends!
Now is the time for us to remember what our REAL goal is!
With so much going on, and so many good things happening each week, it’s easy to focus on immediate things, rather than eternal ones! The Lord’s church exists so ordinary people can enjoy God’s grace in Jesus Christ. It is THE place of help for sinners and for healing of souls (Hebrews 4:16; Psalm 41:4). Like Noah’s ark (Hebrews 11:7; 1 Peter 3:20), it is a place of safety and deliverance from the judgment of this world.
Jesus said the path to our ultimate goal is “narrow” in Matthew 7:14. The devil aims to distract us, so as to “reroute” our souls, so we must focus on our Savior’s way (Hebrews 10:20), to reach heaven. John wrote that fellowship with God (and one another!) depends on walking in the light (1 John 1:5-7). Walking with Jesus takes consistency, obedience, perseverance, and faith. As the world presses in on us during this hectic season, and as Satan tries to seduce and trap us, let’s strive to stay focused on our goal! This is no time to put your spiritual life into a “holding pattern,” or wait for the new year to trigger fresh dedication to the Lord’s work: We need to keep on reaching and teaching the lost every day (remember Jesus’ words in John 9:4)! Jesus’ mission in the world was “…to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). Sin separates people from God (Isaiah 59:2), and only Christ’s blood can repair this breach (Mark 10:45). The apostle Paul wrote;
“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting
those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind. Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.” (Philippians 3:13-17)
Beloved brethren, let’s press on!
