Dear Parents,

The school year is already underway, and it is going to be an exciting one. As your new counselors, we have a lot of exciting events planned for families and students, and we would like to start off by telling you a little about ourselves and our duties.

This year Rockbrook has two counselors:

Menoosh Zaeri, who will be working with kindergarten through second grade, has several years of experience in education. She has a Masters in Counseling and comes to us from Peter’s Colony Elementary. She is very excited to be working with the Rockbrook community, and she will be on campus Tuesday, Thursday, and every other Friday.

Lisa Saviñón will be working with grades three through five. Lisa is an experienced counselor and teacher. She has a Masters in Counseling and is in the process of completing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Lisa is thrilled to be a part of the Rockbrook team and working with your children. She will be at Rockbrook full-time, and you can contact her any time during the week.

Our Duties:

School counselors in Texas have very specific roles. Our duties include classroom guidance lessons, small group and individual counseling, as well as consultation with parents, teachers, and administrators. While counselors never discipline students, we can assist with positive behavior strategies. Our goal is for each student to develop socially, emotionally, and academically, and we strive to create a safe and positive environment in which each child can accomplish this.

School counselors work with students on social skills, bullying, divorce, anger, college and career preparation, anxiety, friendship, mentors, grief/loss, and many other important concerns. We can assist our families in times of hardship, as well as with clothing and food needs. As counselors, we are dedicated to helping each child succeed in school and life.

Please contact us if we can ever be of assistance.
