[City, State] - Date - The [name of chapter] Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter and over 1,300 youth members and adult advisers came together in Washington, DC, November 10-12 for the annual FCCLA National Cluster Meeting. The meeting’s theme, Be Inspired by FCCLA, engaged students in developing new skills, exploring career opportunities, building strong families, and giving back to their communities. The meeting also provided opportunities for members to compete in career-focused skill demonstration competitions and team events that challenged students’ knowledge in personal finance, consumer responsibilities, technology, health and safety, and more.

While these youth attendees focused on their personal leadership growth, they also recognized the need to give back and make a positive impact through their service. Students participated in youth-led workshops on FCCLA’s new national Community Service program. This peer education program guides students to develop, plan, carry out, and evaluate projects to improve the quality of life in their communities. Youth leaders learn more about themselves, others, and the world so that they can make a difference now and in the future. [If applicable] While in D.C., students also had the opportunity for hands-on community service, where they helped preserve National Park land by removing invasive plants in Rock Creek Park.
“Students are learning real world skills for life while also recognizing the importance of serving others,” said Sandy Spavone, FCCLA’s Executive Director. “We know that today’s communities need contributing citizens, people who care for others and work hard to improve both economic and living conditions. Our members are ready to do just that.”
