THE ROBERT AND MARY MACMILLAN BURSARY

(Established in 1972 by a bequest of the sum of $20 000 under the will of the late Robert Edward Leslie Macmillan, Fitter and Turner of Brisbane, who died in September 1970.)

1. The bursary shall be awarded each year by the Senate on the recommendation of the Executive Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology to a student who has obtained at least #32 in the program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Engineering.

2. Candidates for the bursary shall not be less than 23 years of age in the calendar year in which the award is to be made.

3. In making recommendation for the Executive Dean shall give preference to candidates who have engineering trade qualifications. Subject thereto the Executive Dean shall take into account the academic record and financial circumstances and responsibilities of candidates, and such other matters as it may deem relevant.

4. A bursary shall be tenable for 2 years during which time the scholar shall pursue the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth semesters of the program leading to the degree as a full-time student.

5. The annual value of the bursary shall be one half of the annual income of the fund.

6. A bursary may be held by the recipient of the bursary for 2 years subject to the recipient -
(a) continuing to be enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Engineering (including Bachelor of
Engineering dual degrees) or the integrated Bachelor/Master of Engineering degree;
and
(b) maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

7. A recipient who fails to satisfy subrule 6 (a) or (b) must show cause why the bursary should
not be cancelled, by the date by which the Associate Dean requests the recipient to do so.
