Position Description:
During construction of the Snoqualmie hydro-electric facilities, contractors are performing the installation of new machinery, equipment and wiring/electrical work. Duties of the Hydro Electrician during this construction primarily relate to the inspection and quality control of all new electrical installations. This position currently reports 8 hours per day -40 hours/5 days per week, Monday through Friday.
Essential Functions:
  • Performs inspection and quality control duties related to the construction of new equipment at the Snoqualmie Hydro Power Plant.
  • Gains access to electrical panels and control boards in order to monitor and test new installations.
  • Moves throughout the Power Plants (1 and 2) in order to inspect and test electrical circuits on a wide range of equipment, motors, machinery, pumps and the Plant generators.
  • Moves equipment and supplies to and from storage areas.
  • Operates company vehicles and equipment including pickup truck or utility van and forklift.

Job Qualifications and Skills:
Employees in this position are required to have completed a recognized Hydro-Electric Electrician Apprenticeship program or its’ equivalent and be proficient in the use of tools and equipment of the trade. Membership in IBEW-77 is required. Hydro Electricians are also required to have a Washington State commercial driver’s license (CDL-A) with necessary endorsements, First-Aid/CPR card and be certified to operate a forklift. Employees are also required to have a working knowledge of and comply with all Company standards, policies, practices, procedures and State and Federal regulations as they pertain to the job.
Employer Provided Training:
All training for required qualifications (see above) may be provided by the Employer. The Employer also provides regular training every month on safety, technical knowledge and skills required on the job.
Machines, Tools, Special Equipment, Personal Protective Equipment Used:
Each Hydro Electrician has a tool bag that is carried, in part or full, from one job site to another. A wide-range of hand tools are used on a routine basis. Vehicles operated include: pickup truck, utility van and forklift. Larger trucks or vehicles may be driven as needed. A variety of electrical or electronic testing equipment is used on a regular basis. Safety equipment would include: hardhat, safety vest, safety glasses, ear/hearing protection, flashlights and grounding equipment. May use stepladder, extension ladder, and platform lift as needed. Other equipment or items used may include: cell phone, laptop or other computer/technical equipment with peripherals, office equipment or supplies, etc.
