A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Herbert D. Liebman.
With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Herbert D. Liebman, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.
WHEREAS, Herbert D. Liebman was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Irvington, New Jersey; he was a longtime resident of Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on April 25, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Herbert D. Liebman was the loving son of the late Isidor and Jennie Liebman, and he was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Roy, Mike, and William, and two sisters, Dorothy and Sophie; he was the devoted husband of Phyllis Liebman, and he was the adored father of three sons, James and Dan Liebman of Frankfort, and Michael Liebman of Madison, Wisconsin, and a daughter, Ellen Liebman of Chicago, Illinois, and he was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and
WHEREAS, Herbert D. Liebman graduated from the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia, and from the University of Kentucky College of Law, and he served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Navy during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Herbert D. Liebman was an esteemed member of the Franklin County community where he practiced law for over fifty years; he served as Frankfort Police Court judge for five years, and at the time of his passing, he was serving his fifth term as a member of the Franklin County Board of Education where he also served as chairman for several years; he was a loyal member of the Democratic Party, and he also was a member of Ohavay Zion Synagogue in Lexington; and
WHEREAS, it is with fond recollection that we remember Herbert D. Liebman, not only for his many accomplishments and the friendships he made and sustained through the years, but also his compassion for and understanding of the common man, which he demonstrated daily; and
WHEREAS, the passing of Herbert D. Liebman has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Herbert D. Liebman, and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.
Section 2. The passion, dedication, intelligence, and social consciousness Herbert D. Liebman brought to this Commonwealth will never be forgotten, and his influence will continue through future generations.
Section 3. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Herbert D. Liebman.
Section 4. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Phyllis Liebman, 453 Blackfoot Trail, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.
