JOB DESCRIPTION: TEAM LEADER (HOLYWELL MANOR)
Principal responsibilities
Reporting to the Domestic Supervisor and Domestic Manager.
The Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing and carrying out the daily servicing of bedrooms and communal areas at Holywell Manor and its surrounding buildings. In the absence of the Domestic Supervisor, he/she will act as a first point of contact for guests, Housekeeping staff,the Lodge,Maintenance staff (while at Holywell Manor) and the Conference and Events Manager where applicable.
Their main responsibilities will be:-
- To assist the Domestic Supervisor with allocation of housekeepers to cleaning areas including re-deploying Housekeepers who have few or no rooms to staircases with a high occupancy
- Overseeing the preparation of Guest Roomsbefore occupancy to ensure cleanliness and correct set up.
- To assist the Domestic Supervisor in correcting the hygiene and cleanliness of Holywell Manor and associate buildings.
- Liaising with the Domestic Manager and Domestic Supervisor for student room allocations and assisting with the arranging of weekend rosters.
- To assist the Domestic Supervisor in implementing the spring-cleaning and deep cleaning programmes.
- Reporting any problems to the Maintenance department and reporting overdue room repairs to the Domestic Manager.
- Monitoring linen requirements and where necessary undertaking laundry duties.
- Key issue and return for required areas.
- Ensuring Housekeeper’s pantries are clean and tidy and fully stocked.
- Carry out normal housekeeping duties such as emptying bins, cleaning toilets, bathrooms and showers, dusting and polishing surfaces, vacuuming, cleaning corridors and passageways
- Ensure all communal areas are adequately equipped at the end of each shift.
- To undertake any other such duties consistent with the purpose of the job.

- High standards of cleanliness and excellent attention to detail
- Experience of staff supervision
- Experience of cleaning in different conditions
- A high level of interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of Health and Safety
- The ability to train others in safe working practices
- The ability to work using own initiative
- A logical, thorough, and flexible approach to his/her work
- The ability to priorities tasks under pressure.
- The ability to work as part of a team but to also lead a team
- Some level of computer literacy
- Discretion, tact and sensitivity.
- Punctuality and good timekeeping.
Terms and conditions of employment
You will be employed by BalliolCollege initially on a six-month probationary period. During this period your employment may be terminated by one week's notice on either side. Thereafter the period of notice to terminate your employment is one month.
Your salary will be £8.49 per hour, rising to £8.69 on successful completion of probation.
You will work approximately 20 hours a week, 4 hours a day, any 5 days out of 7.
You will be eligible to join the generous Oxford University Staff Pension Scheme, which is a contributory final salary scheme.
You will normally be required to work from Holywell Manor but you may be asked to work at any other Balliol College site within Oxford.
Your immediate Line Manager will be the Domestic Supervisor. The College Officer responsible for the department will be the Domestic Manager.
