Salary Packaging / Up to $15,899 per annum is available, prior to tax, along with other pre-tax packaging as fits RDAC’s PBI status.

Position Summary

Organisational Background
Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation (RDAC) was established as an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation in 1992 to improve the social, health and economic outcomes for Aboriginal people. RDAC is a leading provider of primary health care and related social and family support services to Aboriginal people and communities across Gippsland.
RDAC’s services are provided at the following locations: Sale (3), Morwell, Drouin, Wonthaggi, Loch Sport, Rosedale and Stratford.
RDAC’s services include; General Practice, Health assessment and education, Dental, Audiology, Chronic disease management, Drug and Alcohol counselling, Family, child and maternal health, Home and Community Care, Immunisation and vaccinations, Social and emotional wellbeing support and counselling, Allied Health, Client transport and Corporate Services.
Health Team
The Health Team’s aim to provide a comprehensive range of health care services including dental which meets the critical health care needs of the community and to provide holistic and quality health care for Ramahyuck’s community of interest. All clinics are accredited against the RACGP Standards and registered with GPA+
The Dental Clinic provides quality dental services to the Ramahyuck community and to the general public.
Ourprofessional dental services team provides a comprehensive range of dental and oral health promotion services using employee and contracted dental practitioners.
Position Purpose
Thisposition is responsible for and has oversight of the coordination, clinical operations, marketing and financial and human resource management of the Ramahyuck Gippsland Dental Clinic and is also occasionally required to do Dental Assisting
The position of the Dental Practice Manager reports to the Regional Practice Manager.

Position Functions

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
In liaison with the dental team
  • Co-ordinate the daily activities of the Ramahyuck Gippsland Dental Clinic.
  • Coordinate the day to day activities of staff working in the clinic
  • Ensure staff are working with legislative requirements, RDAC policies and procedures and surgery protocols
  • Manage the staff rosters and sound use of on call staff
  • Human Resource Management to include recruitment, induction and orientation, complaints and conflict management
  • Ensure client records are maintained appropriately.
  • Ensure dentist appointment books are up to date.
  • Overseeing of recall and patient re attendance.
  • Reporting and analysis of monthly data, patient and sales figures and practice efficiency.
  • Implement new campaign strategies to support increased patient throughput.
  • Assist Dental staff and visiting professionals in the delivery of services in a culturally competent manner.
  • Ensure that the Dental service premises are hygienic and well maintained.
  • Maintain and monitor infection control practices within the clinical area.
  • Coordinate the ordering and control of Dental supplies.
  • Coordinate the purchase and maintenance of clinical equipment.
  • Ensure staff have access to and receive appropriate high quality support, supervision and debriefing, as required.
  • Coordinate Dental meetings.
  • Promote Dental Education and awareness programs within the clinic and the community.
  • Perform other duties associated with the position as directed by the Supervisor of the position or by the Chief Executive Officer.

Audit requirements
  • Facilitate and monitor audit compliance with both ISO standards and departmental funding bodies requirements
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance
  • Facilitate and coordinate internal audit requirements
  • Develop mitigation strategies for identified risks as a result of audit activity

Leadership:
  • Provide effective leadership to the dental team to build a cohesive and efficient team with clarity around goals and accountabilities

  • Provide and promote effective communication, excellent customer service; empathy and compassion; and cultural awareness in all activities.
  • Convene, or facilitate quality and risk meetings, and audits activities to ensure objectives are met
  • Produce reports or documentation as required by CEO or Board
  • Actively participate in RDAC activities.

Marketing:
In conjunction with RDAC Executive management
  • Planning, developing and implementing new strategies for marketing the practice.
  • Identifying target marketsfor the practice and exploiting their potential.
  • Designing, planning, implementing and promoting new services in liaison with the RDAC Executive team
  • Liaising with the media and provision of information to new clients.

Other requirements:
  • Continually review systems and legislation to ensure organisation risks and compliance activities are current and reflective of changes
  • Prepare monthly reports to CEO and Board on quality and risk activities
  • Facilitate and liaise with relevant committees to ensure legislative changes are implemented within policies and procedures
  • Liaise with committees and managers on compliance status activities

Position Requirements

Key Selection Criteria
1 / Previous practice management experience with a least 3 years in the dental industry / M
2 / Certificate 111 in Business Management or equivalent and/or Certificate 111 in Dental Assisting. / M
3 / Knowledge of Dental for Windows Software Programme or similar / M
4 / Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including record keeping and report writing / M
5 / Sound ability to prioritise and delegate tasks using effective supervisory skills. / M
6 / Knowledge and understanding of the local koori community. / D
7 / Willingness to promote and observe Occupational Health and Safety protocols and standards and industry codes of practice. / M
9 / Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet privacy requirements. / M
