·  Be Respectful! Show respect toward your teachers, fellow students and your environment. Courteous behavior and personal pride go a long way as you pursue your life's path.

·  Be Involved! Take an active role in your learning. Become involved in discussions, take responsibility for your work, follow directions, and strive to make the learning process fun.

·  Abide by all rules set forth and outlined in the student handbook.

Academic Expectations:

·  ALL YOUR WORK MUST BE DONE IN PENCIL! Mistakes and corrections are a part of the learning process, especially in math classes. Using a pencil (with an eraser) will enable you to make corrections and avoid sloppy work. Please use the following heading:

·  You are required to show your work in a neat and orderly fashion. This way, I will be able to see if you understand the concepts and material presented in class and are able to set up your problems correctly. Points may be deducted if you fail to show appropriate work.

·  Cheating will not be tolerated in this class. If I see any copying of answers taking place during any test or quiz, your paper will be taken away, you will be given a zero for your grade on the test, a referral will be turned in to the office and parents will be notified. Our district has an Academic Honesty Policy that outlines consequences for violations.

Grading Policy: This is an 18 week course made up of two marking periods. The breakdown of grades for the marking period is as follows:

Daily Work, Home Work, Quizzes: 50%

Tests: 50%

(The 2 categories listed above are worth 80% of your semester grade)

Semester Exam (This is worth 20% of your semester grade.)

Tardies: You are expected to be in class by the time the bell rings. I will keep track of your tardies just as I will of your absences, and appropriate actions will be taken, so please be on time. Persistent tardies will require a parent conference and an appropriate referral will be given. Referral is given on the third tardy.

Absences: If you are absent, you will be responsible to find out what you missed and get a copy of the notes. Please don’t ask to make up a test or quiz during class.

Tests and quizzes: If you are absent and it fell on a test or quiz day, you will have the opportunity to make it up on a scheduled date. Please be sure to schedule a make-up appointment in advance. If the test was announced ahead of time, and is given the day that you return, you will need to take the test. Retests (only available for EXAMS) will be held after school or in the morning, and highest grade is a 70.

Homework: Homework gives you needed practice and therefore you are expected to complete all assignments when homework is assigned. If you are absent, please turn in homework the day you return back. In the event of an extended absence, a make-up schedule may be negotiated at teacher's discretion.

Classwork/Participation: It is extremely important to the learning process that you are in class each day. You are expected to be an "active attendee", which means you are giving your complete attention to lessons presented, asking questions when you need clarification, and completing any classwork which has been assigned. Excessive talking and other distracting behavior will not be tolerated during class.

Tutoring: All students are invited to attend tutoring in the morning 7:55-8:25, except Thursday, unless I am in a scheduled meeting. Also, please take advantage of the after-school tutoring offered from 4:30-6:00 pm every TUES-THURS in the library. (Homework Center) Transportation is provided by the school.

It is most important to keep an organized binder throughout the course and to establish good study habits if you do not already have them. I will have high expectations for you to be successful in this course, and if you have any questions/concerns please communicate them with me.
