Role / Senior Dot Net Developer

Role Description: / An exciting opportunity has arisen for multiple talented Senior Developers to join the Information Services Development team to further the success of the National Blood Authority in delivering award winning ICT solutions; innovating the management and supply of blood and blood related products in addition to improving services for clinicians and patients alike.
Deliverables / The candidate will be required to:
- Development of public facing .NET web applications
- Maintenance work, analysis, bug testing and remediation
- Integration of software across multiple platforms and environments in the National Health Sector
- Support and troubleshooting technical requirements and complex business / technical issues.
- Smartphone applications for iOS and Android based on a Telerik Platform using JavaScript and HTML5
Required skills and experience / Selection Criteria / To be successful in the application the candidate should meet the following key areas and criteria:
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in developing complex Dot NET be-spoke applications with extensive experience in using Visual Studio, ASP.NET MVC, WCF, C#, TFS, MSMQ, Telerik platform and Windows Service Bus.
- Proven experience in developing mobile responsive web applications that are compliance with WCAG 2.0 AA standards.
- Experience in detailed technical analysis and implement design solutions to meet end user requirements.
- Proven ability to deliver results crossing multiple IT disciplines, including requirements identification, technical analysis, coding, code review, and system documentation.
- Highly effective written and oral communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate to achieve the desired outcome effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Able to maintain product backlog items, bugs and change requests using Team Foundation Server (TFS), prioritise work deliverables to meet the agreed timelines and at a high standard.
- Able to communicate well with project team, end users and management with leadership capabilities. The senior developer may be requested to lead a small team of developers to meet competing organisation’s priorities.
- Experience in Agile / Iterative software development methodologies including exposure to DTA’s Digital Service Standards (DSS)
Key Performance Indicators /
- Technical delivery of complex be-spoke applications / system functions
- Deliver excellent user experience to internal and external stakeholders
- Prompt assistance to maintain the organisation’s production systems.
Referee Requirements / Candidate must provide a minimum of 2 referees.
Referee checks will only be performed for candidates shortlisted for interview.
Period of Engagement / 12 months with possible extension
Location / Canberra (interstate travel may be requried)
Security clearance / Must have or able to achieve and hold a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance and therefore must be an Australian citizen.
IMPORTANT: Where the need for a security clearance has been identified (as above), the Commonwealth requires all Specified Personnel to undergo a security clearance. In this instance, Specified Personnel must have completed and submitted a security pack to the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency prior to commencement.
The Commonwealth requires all Specified Personnel to undergo Work, Health and Safety and Security Awareness training. Training must be undertaken upon commencement and be completed before the commencement of any work. Training is by means of an online courses and questionnaires that can be undertaken at Commonwealth premises.
