Role
The Chair of the PR/Marketing committee is responsible for coordinating specific press activities of the chapter throughout the year, which might yield publicity in regional and local newspapers; regional and national trade publications; MPI’s One+Magazine and local TV coverage.
The person in this position helps to determine which PAMPI projects would be newsworthy to which media.
The Chair will also be the liaison with celebrities, politicians and TV news teams to invite them as guests, award recipients as well as award presenters during specific events.
PR / Marketing Committee
This committee is responsible for searching out standard and new sources - print, on-line and electronic and to disseminate upcoming chapter meetings, accomplishments, special events and then producing a press alert announcement for those events. Other roles include creating a post-press re-cap of particular events that are newsworthy to the hospitality industry and mass media. The committee will also take a look at various topics within the meetings and hospitality industry and/or are current economic conditions and will create a variety of storylines that can be pitched to the media. Their goal will be to include members of the chapter within storylines so that PAMPI’s name is attached as an industry leading association locally and potentially regionally.
Other essential functions of the committee are related to the promotion of PAMPI within the community. The committee will actively seek out, pursue and develop relationships with the hospitality/ community. Strategic partnerships will be identified and established to support the goals of both partner organizations. PAMPI should be positioned as a common name, peer group within the Philadelphia business community.
Committee Structure
1. One committee member will handle the Calendar listings from start to finish.
2. One committee member will handle post-press re-caps of selected events and choose the media outlets to solicit for coverage. They will also work with the PAMPI photographer to utilize best-selected photos representing the event’s nature and content.
3. One committee member will handle storyline ideas. This would entail coming up with the content, the interviews and the follow through to the media.
4. One committee member will be solely dedicated to the active identification, formation, and development and nurturing of strategic partnerships. These partnerships are grown from hospitality industry resources, venues, professional organizations, media contacts, community leaders, charitable organizations and business epicenters of the Philadelphia region.
5. Each committee PR person will follow-up with a quick outline for the VP of Communications.
