A meeting of the Board of Registration in Embalming and Funeral Directing for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts was held on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Montvale Plaza, Montvale Ave., Stoneham, MA. The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m.

Minutes:

The minutes of the March 29, 2005 sub committee meeting were circulated for review. A motion made by Ms. McCarthy, seconded by Mr. Mazur and it was

Voted unanimously to accept the minutes of the March 29, 2005 meeting.

Apprentices:

The Board met with Gene Beasley (lic #2204) of O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, Jeffrey Popadak (lic #2205) of Rapino Memorial Home, Matthew Farrow (lic #2206) of MacRae-Tunnicliffe and Heather Carr Reiter (lic #2207) of Carr Funeral Home.

The Board approved issuance of apprentice embalmer registration to these individuals.

Type 3:

The Board met with Glenn Burlamachi of Burlamachi Funeral Home. The Board approved issuance of a type 3 license to Mr. Burlamachi.

The Board received type 3 applications from Louis Antoine and Julia Arrington, both employees at JB Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Antoine and Ms. Arrington will be invited to appear before the Board.

Establishment Certificate:

The Board met with Glenn Burlamachi with regards to an establishment certificate application for The Burlamachi Funeral Home, Inc., d/b/a/ MacRae-Tunnicliffe Funeral Home. Mr. Mazur made a motion, seconded by Ms. McCarthy and it

Voted unanimously to approve issuing an establishment certificate to MacRae-Tunnicliffe Funeral Home.

Public Commentary:

Mr. Blanchard reported that he received a call from Walter Prince, Mrs. Johnson’s attorney. Mr. Blanchard assured Mr. Prince that the Board is very serious about its requirement that Mrs. Johnson employ a type 3 licensee. Mr. Blanchard reported that he has filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s office in regards to the Board’s use of executive session.

Correspondence:

A was received from Barbara A. Kazmierczak of Dirsa Morin Funeral Homes informing the Board that she intends to complete her Funeral Service program at the New England Institute at Mt Ida College. She informed the Board that Kathy Cartmell-Sirrico will fulfill the role of the required type 3 license until such time as Ms. Kazmierczak obtains her own type 3 license.

Elections:

The Board held an election for Board Chair. Mr. Cartmell-Sirrico nominated Mr. Barile. Ms. McCarthy nominated Mr. Mazur. Mr. Barile nominated Ms. Cartmell-Sirrico citing that this is her last year on the Board. Ms. McCarthy withdrew her nomination of Mr. Mazur. Mr. Barile, Ms.McCarthy and Mr. Mazur voted to elect Ms. Cartmell-Sirrico Board Chair.

CEU Requests:

The Board received submission requests for continuing education. A motion was made by Ms. McCarthy, seconded by Mr. Barile and it was

The Board held an informational session to review pertinent code and conduct portion of CMR 239.
