1.3 COORDINATION

.1 Coordinate installation of ground rods and cables with ground level concrete work specified in Division03, to provide a complete integrated system.

1.4 SUBMITTALS

.1 Provide required information in accordance with Section013300 – Submittals.

.2 Action Submittals: Provide the following submittals before starting any work of this Section:

.1 Product Data: Submit manufacturer’s product data for accessories proposed for use on the project before ordering materials for Consultant’s review and acceptance.

.3 Sustainable Design Submittals: Coordinate project sustainable design requirements with Section013531 – LEED Special Project Procedures.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

.1 Regulatory Requirements: Install materials in accordance with governing standards, requirements of electric utility and Authority Having Jurisdiction.

.2 Certifications; Provide the following during the course of the Work:

.1 Compliance Certification: Provide certificates from manufacturer indicating tested performance requirements required by Authorities Having Jurisdiction and as specified in this Section.

1.6 delivery, storage and handling

.1 Separate waste materials for [reuse] [and] [recycling] in accordance with Section 017419 Waste Management and Disposal.

2. Products

2.1 MATERIALS

.1 Grounding and bonding equipment:to CSA C22.2 No.41 and as follows:

.1 Ground Rods:20mm x 3m [copper clad] [galvanized] [stainless] steel.

.2 Ground Conductors:as specified in Section 260513.

.3 Ground Grid:

.1 No of ground rods:[1] [2] [3] [].

.2 Interconnect conductors:[2/0] [3/0] [] bare copper.

.3 Ground conductors:[2/0] [3/0] [] bare copper to system neutral point.

3. Execution

3.1 INSTALLATION

.1 Comply with requirements of CSA C22.2 No. 0.4 and Canadian Electrical Code.

.2 Install complete permanent grounding system including electrodes, conductors, connectors and accessories.

.3 Protect exposed ground conductors from mechanical injury.

.4 Make buried connections, and connections to electrodes using [thermaweld process] [pressure connectors].

.5 Use mechanical connectors for ground connection to equipment provided with lugs.

.6 Do not solder joints.

.7 Install bonding wire in flexible metal conduit connected at both ends to grounding bushing, solderless lug, clamp or cup washer and screw.

.8 Install separate insulated ground conductor in conduit runs installed in concrete which is subject to moisture penetration and underground.

3.2 SYSTEM GROUNDING

.1 Provide ground conductor to water main ahead of water meter.

.2 Provide flexible copper bonding jumper around water meter, associated unions and valves to ground building side of water system.

.3 Provide ground grid with [one] [two] ground conductor[s] from grid to system neutral point.

SPECNOTE:Ground grid is required where incoming building water main is nonmetallic.

3.3 PADMOUNT TRANSFORMER GROUNDING

.1 Provide the following:

.1 Ground Rods:[4] [].

.2 Interconnect Conductors:[2/0] [3/0] [].

.3 Ground Conductor:[2/0] [3/0] [] bare copper to noncurrent carrying metal parts and system ground.
