There will be a Veterinary Surgeon, a Doctor and a Farrier on call. First Aid will be in attendance. The organisers of the show have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the HEALTH & SAFETY of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring, and they must obey the instructions of the organisers and all officials and stewards. No responsibility will be accepted by the organisers for any loss, damage, illness or injury sustained by the exhibitors, riders, or their animals and entries are accepted on this basis. Anyone on a horse must wear a hard hat. Grooms must wear a hat when in the ring.

THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL

Classes 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 17-20, 24 are qualifiers for the 2008 Horse of the Year Show at NEC Birmingham (Wednesday 8th October – Sunday 12th October). The entry fees in these classes include a £9.50 HOYS contribution.

All Hunter classes will be judged under the Society’s rules and SHB(GB) require all entries in the Hunter classes to be Registered. Classes 17-20 and 24 are qualifying events for the Horse of the Year Show 2008 and only horses registered on the 2008 Show Hunter register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on the entry form, and owners and riders must be members of the society. The highest placed horse in classes 17-20 will qualify to enter at the Horse of the Year Show unless it has already done so, in which case the second horse will go forward. No horse lower than second in its class will qualify. In class 24 the highest placed horse will qualify to enter at the HOYS unless it has already done so in which case the second horse will go forward unless it has already done so in which case the third horse will go forward. No horse lower than third will qualify. Classes 17-20 are qualifying events for the 2008 NHSCS. The three highest placed horses in each class will qualify to enter at the NHSCS. No horse lower than third in its class will qualify. Horses in classes 16, 21 23, 25 & 26 are only required to be registered on the Basic Identity Record or Stud Book of the Society. Class 22 is unaffiliated. The Society offers a temporary registration to competitors who wish to compete at one qualifying show for a fee of £10. If the horse subsequently qualifies then they will need to complete their full registration before the championship final and the £10 fee will be refunded. Any exhibit found not to be correctly registered will be disqualified. A skull cap or hat and safety harness, according to the current BSI or European standard MUST BE WORN by all competitors under the age of eighteen in all Sport Horse (GB) Classes. Skull caps must have a navy blue or black cover. All Hunters, including Small, are barred from entry in Hack and Riding Horse classes at this show and vice versa.

AMATEUR STATUS: A person is an amateur for showing purposes when showing ridden hunters in an amateur class if he or she does not:

a) engage in, livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses as a means of deriving a main source of income since 1st January 2006.

b) accept remuneration whether it be monetary or goods in kind for employment in connection with horses in a racing, showing, livery stable or riding school. (Instruction at Pony Club or Riding Club excepted) since 1st January 2006.

c) show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm or a horse for which his or her immediate family accepts livery or training charges from a person outside the immediate concern since 1st January 2006.

d) show a horse which a professional rider has qualified in the weights or small ridden hunter class for either the Horse of the Year Championships or the Royal International Horse Show during the current year, unless the horse has subsequently reregistered under new ownership.

e) show a horse which is exhibited by a professional rider at the same show (except in Working Hunter and Ladies Hunter Classes).

f) an amateur working hunter may not be ridden by a professional rider in a working hunter class on the same day.

g) professional show persons must not enter the Amateur Ring whilst the classes are in progress.

This show is affiliated to the BSHA and will be run under its rules and jurisdiction. All owners, exhibitors trainers, producers and riders must be members of BSHA in all BSHA Classes, with the exception of day ticket holders. Non members may purchase up to a maximum of two day tickets per exhibitor per horse, per season. A day ticket will allow entry into novice and open affiliated classes only but not HOYS qualifying classes. Horses registered using the day ticket do not require a JMB height certificate until full registration Hacks are barred from Riding Horse classes and vice versa. First prizewinners in classes 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10 will qualify for the Hack, Cob and Riding Horse of The Year at the 2008 Horse of the Year Show (Wednesday 8th October- Sunday 12th October). If already qualified the second will go forward. If the first and second have already qualified then the third will qualify and so forth to fifth place,no horse lower than fifth place may qualify.

The three highest placed horses in classes 9 and 10 will qualify to compete in the Classic Supreme Riding Horse Classes at the National Championship Show (5th/6th September 2008).

The three highest placed in classes 4 and 5 will qualify to compete in the Classic Supreme Hack Classes at the National Championship Show.

The three highest placed in classes 7 and 8 will qualify to compete in the Classic Supreme Cob Classes at the National Championship Show.

NOVICE CLASSES A Novice Hack, Cob or Riding Horse is one which has not won a first prize of £25 or more or a total of £100 in any BSHA affiliated showing classes at home or abroad prior to 1st January 2008. Winnings gained as a four year old are excepted unless that four year old has won an open class. A novice may be shown in a snaffle bridle.

v) a competitor is not eligible to compete in amateur classes on an exhibit which has been ridden by a professional rider in the open classes which are qualifiers for either RIHS or HOYS during the current year, unless the horse has subsequently been re registered under new ownership.

Class 15 is a qualifier for the Cherif Championship 2008. The final will be held at the Cherif Championship Show, Addington Manor Equestrian Centre, Addington, Bucks on 17th September 2008. All exhibitors are issued with colour coded qualifying cards which state the height section of the horse/pony.

Competitors must carry their qualifying cards with them in the ring to be signed by the judge. Failure to produce the card for signature means non qualification. No cards are to be brought into the ring once the class has started. Ponies of 148cms and under will be ridden by a lightweight adult at the Cherif Championship final.

To be ridden by an amateur. This does not exclude amateur owner/home produced riders from having lessons at any time with an instructor, provided the horse remains stabled at home. No grooms or professional producers are allowed into the ring to strip the horse
