Eligible Home Repairs:

1)Funds canbeused forrepairsandimprovementsthatwillremove health and safetyhazards, make energy efficiency improvements, minor cosmetic repairs, or make homesaccessible and useable forhouseholdmemberswithdisabilities. Examples of repairs are:

•Roof replacement or repairs

•Insulation

•Replacement Windows and doors.

•Wheelchair ramps

•Porches

•Painting and general repairs

•Minor plumbing repairs

Applicant EligibilityGuidelines:

1)Must ownand occupythe property. This can be proven by a copy of the deed to your property or a lifetime right (life estate).

2)Must have a totaladjustedhouseholdincomebelow theverylowincomelimit fortheir size family. (See chart below)

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What is World Changers? World Changers is a ministry of Lifeway Christian Resources that utilizes volunteer student and adult labor to repair homes for needy families. Since 2009, over 112 homes have been repaired in Rockingham County by the World Changers organization.
  • How is World Changers funded? World Changers of Rockingham County has partnered with Rockingham County, local churches, businesses, individuals, and USDA-Rural Development to secure funding to pay for the cost of materials for home repairs.
  • Is there any cost to me if my home is repaired? Applicants approved for assistance will have their homes repaired free of charge.
  • How do I apply for assistance? Complete the attached application form and return it in person or by mail to Rockingham County at the above address not later than February 4, 2016.
  • What happens after I apply for assistance? All applications will be reviewed and screened by the local World Changers Committee in February, 2016. If your application is selected for further review, a representative from World Changers will be in contact with you by March 18, 2016 to schedule an appointment to visit with you at your home. At that time, you should be prepared to provide income verification and verification of home ownership. The World Changers representative will also review the repairs needed to your home with you. Note: Rockingham County cannot provide information to you regarding the status of your application.
  • When will final selections be made? The local World ChangersCommittee will review all applications received and the results of the home visits not later than April 22, 2016. Applicants will be notified by mail by World Changers not later than May 1, 2016.
  • If I am approved, when will my house be repaired? World Changers will be coming to Rockingham County on June 25-July 2, 2016 to complete repair projects.
